I'm looking to transfer all my dot coms to a registrar that has a history of having really cheap renewal prices. GoDaddy prices are absurd.

I'm thinking of DynaDot but have they always had cheap renewal prices? Do they have a good history of this?

Also, can anyone tell me, what prevents a domain registrar from making the renewal prices ridiculously high? Obviously everyone will leave the registrar and never come back, but those that have renewal issues coming close will be forced to pay. Is there any type of protection offered from ICANN of some sort?

Hard to beat Epik.com Namepro's special pricing at $8.49 for .com domains. Reg, transfer and renewal are all the same low price. Plus you can sell or lease your domains for only 5% fee if you withdraw the funds or no fee at all if you use the funds for your domain expenses. Free personal marketplace too.

And their regular renewal price seems to be 35$?!

All .com domains renew at $8.49 at Epik.com every year for all Namepros members. I sell my domains in my marketplace at Epik and get to use 100% of the sales proceeds to fund my domain business. Epik pushes the sold domains into an account for the buyer without me having to do anything and I get paid immediately. I have never had a sale fail or get reversed there.

Yes, retail customers do pay $35 per year renewals. Epik holds there hand and gives them so much added value that many times they decide to stay at Epik and even move their domains from other registrars to Epik as well.

Namesilo & Dynadot.

Both offer good discounts on pre-funding their accounts.

Check out the Namesilo discount program if you have a large number of domains. It is free to join and you can save a lot on new regs and renewals (ex. you can get .com from $8.39 renewals)

Dynadot has bulk & super bulk pricing (ex. .com for $8.75 & $8.5).

I think Epik charges a fee when pre-funding with Credit Cards/Paypal (please correct me if I am wrong) and you get the full value only if you are pre-funding through Wire Transfer (so it doesn't work for me, unfortunately.)

Namesilo & Dynadot don't charge any fees for any payment method - Credit Cards/Paypal/Bitcoin (NS) and others. I have funded my accounts with Paypal & Credit cards so many times and always got the full amount to use.

domcomp.com compares prices. Search the registrars on namepros to see how people rate them.

Epik's pricing is good but I don't like the interface. It's not buggy but it's one of the worst I have ever seen.

The best renewal price is $8.03 at NameBright.com, if you prefund your account with a minimum of $15. You are not required to keep your account funded at all times, What I used to do was that the day I needed to renew the domains I would fund my account with $16.06 and renew 2 domains. It's an incredible registrar. The only reason I don't use it is because they aren't an AfterNic and Sedo MLS partner. I will transfer all my domains to NameBright once they do that.

@Haris Is there a registrar which is a Afternic & SedoMLS partner and at the same time cheap to renew and register ? Well, at least close to these conditions.

Renewals are always high.. I usually transfer between Name.com, NameSilo.com and Dynadot.com. All 3 are incredible registrars and Sedo MLS and AfterNic partners. But if you don't want to transfer domains between registrars, You should pick either Dynadot or NameSilo. Name.com renewal price is much higher.

NameSilo .com renewal pricing

RETAIL $8.99
0+ $8.89
100+ $8.79
500+ $8.69
1,000+ $8.59

For this discount pricing you'll have to join the NameSilo discount program.

Dynadot .com renewal pricing

Regular - $8.99
Bulk - $8.75
Super Bulk - $8.5

If you spend $500 yearly or just add $500 to your Dynadot account once a year you become a bulk customer. For Super Bulk, you'll have to spend $5000 per year.

I spend $500+ yearly at Dynadot so cheapest renewal I can get is $8.75, but transferring to Name.com for $8.25 saves me $0.5. lol. And transferring out of these 3 registrars is super easy and fast, unlike other registrars.

If you have a large number of domains, you could join GoDaddy's Discount Domain Club ($78/year with coupon) and renew your .com names for $8.29. The DDC membership also includes memberships for cash parking and auctions. There are several coupons online that will give you the discount on DDC.
