It is certainly a registry-premium domain. So value depends on the renewal price..

Renewal is probably $1,200. and I remember that I saw it on auction in flippa with only few days remaining of expiry.

It has lots of branding potential, but just like other brandable domains, reseller value is almost nothing.

With expiry very near the bidder will have to renew it immediately which will cost him $1200. So he wont spend more than $500-$800.


Edit: The domain sold 3 days back for 255. So you must be the new owner.

If you have already renewed it by now, there is no point in appraisal of reseller price. You must be looking for $10,000 for it. Outbound is a must because you have to sell within one year.

Brutal indeed. Not worth it imo. If you bought it for $255, than you know how much its worth, I’m sure he has been trying to sell that forever.

As andNames said, OUTBOUND that name to hell and back because thats a huge renewal fee. Thats like 100 .com domains right there you could buy instead of renewing lol

This name is more a liability than an asset.
If the name sold for $255, it means somebody dumped the hot potato and decided to cut losses.

The plural is for sale at 75K. I understand the renewal fee is the same (1200).
But it's a prime example of how nTLDs have the odds stacked against domain registrants.

The problem is that new extensions are released all the time, right now a lot of money went into .app, and the earlier released extensions have lost momentum. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes

This domain comes up very short compared to cars.xyz. The s is key.

If you are EU citizen then it will be more hard to outbound. Anyway, premium domain with super high risk unfortunately. I suppose, no basically I am sure that if it hadn't this killer renewal cost, it would be already gone with 4 or 5 figure price. Overall, you have to figure out your pockets if you want to go long run with it. Sell it asap you can is my advice, even for the equal price.

The domain is in fact very high value and should not be underestimated. Car (.) xyz easily has a value of $20,000-$25,000 reseller. End-user would pay as much as $50,000 for a domain like that! The buyer would not care that it's premium, it's so high quality. Each, day more and more resellers and end-users are embracing .xyz for their web needs.

I agree, the question is how much you want/can to keep it. Probably it would be worth to keep it if it sells for 5 figures. But the risk is still high.
