question How much do you make on a parked premium domain?

I've always been curious as to how or why domain parking is the go to method for most domainers.

Can someone share some success stories?

I stumble across six figure domains all the time that are just parked.

Most of my parked domains with SEDO make $0. Some even generate 150 or so views a month with a monthly revenue that can be rounded to 0.

One personal domain of mine (directions.com) generates between $500-$1,000/month on parking.

Just varies on domain by domain basis. :)

No not allowed but why would you waste money when could sent it to a developed site at same cost.

I got a few sites making a few hundred a year parked. Most lose money regardless a premium is only a type in nothing else qualifies.

How? I don't get it. I have typos of popular websites that get less than 1 click per day on average.

I also don't get it. Several years ago Google rolled out and then fine-tuned the "did you mean......" browser message when a typo is typed-in and recommends the actual site to visit, which more or less killed typo traffic and revenue thus dropping typo domain values to the point most are worthless today and a lawsuit liability..

do you mind to share how you pick these names like what you consider before you pick them?

do you run them through sites like ahref or moz.com or semrush?

how do you know a domain name will have a click when u pick?

are these names expired purchases or dropped?

@jideofor

Yeah, I buy them mostly from expired auction. Dynadot expired auction for instance, that's the cheapest place you can get it.

The highest I have spent is 56$, I hope to be spending bigger in the future but now, I can't invest more than I can make from parking in less than 6 months.

What are the Things to look out ??

1. Backlinks; how many backlinks does the domain have? This very one has 5.7k Backlinks. I can't buy domain with less than 500 Backlinks.

2. How quality are the backlinks? checkout where the domain name has been mentioned or referenced before. the quality of the Backlinks matters alot,

for instance mine has references from websites like Tacony, sewing, fabrics, sewingmachineplus and many bigger sites that deals in the art and craft niche. No go buy domain with junk or porn Backlinks

How do you checkout the Backlinks ? I don't use any special tool, all I do is type-in the domain with space before putting the . com. That would bring out those sites it has been mentioned. There are paid tools too but I haven't gotten to that level. You can still use seokicks. De but you can only access only the first page of the back links for free.

3. What it was used for in the past; with archive// org one can check that out. Type in the domain name on archive and proceed, then chose the first date it was registered and keep checking every year. If it has been used, parked, reused and parked again, it's a turn off for me, If it has been used by Chinese, nah to run.

4. It must be the same service or product from inception to the current year. I don't buy ones that has been parked before or stopped working as a website since 2019 or 2018. It must be same year since we are already in 6th month.

5. Years matters too; i hate seeing recent registrations with thousand of backlinks. Its always flawed. I can't buy a domain with even a million Backlinks if it was registered recently, for instance 2018, 2019, 2020 unless its a real English word.

6. Check out the the meaning of the word; because byeclepabsneeeved has 10m Backlinks, 100dp and 1m traffics doesn't mean I should buy it. It should get meaning first.

7. Last but not the least; check out if it has been banned or falisted before buying. How can you do that ?

Just goto bodis, click on tools, you will see check failisted. Type in the domain name and proceed. You have free 100 names to check daily.

Failisted or banned domain name can never generate more than 0.01 pay click. Example is games/ com.

Despite being a single English word, its banned and would earn less, that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy games/com should you been given the opportunity to own it for 56$.

Wow, thanks a lot for this detailed answer.

one question though: where do you check the number of backlinks? is it on Expireddomains.net or ahref or semrush or moz?

Do you also consider things like D.A, P.A? if yes, what minimum?

does any of your domain in parking have D.A of say 10 or 20?

What about number of archive.org crawls? do you consider that too?

@liftkid, what about the referring domains, do you consider those too?

@jideofor Referring domain (s) is equivalent to back links and yes it should be considered.

Hi @liftkid

i'm gonna give you a +5 on that post

you gave some pertinent details, which, are mostly overlooked by others.

the quote I took from context, was most notable to me
because it shows that you recognize a limitation, even with the temptation of "more", existing.

i'm impressed....for a change :)

imo...

Hello guys, I feel this domain will do well and the auction would end soon, less than 1hour. I have bided 30$ but just got out bided. I currently do not have more than that 30$ and I wouldn't want dynadot to ban fmerfmerom participating in their auction. The domain name is TheTShirtblog.com if there is enough fund with me, I could have continued bidding till I reach 70 max.

If you do not have much faith on the name, you can lend me 50$, I would pay on 7th July. I have a domain as collateral.
