status-duplicate 278 Hours after last bid!

It might have sounded a little better as "11 days" or "12 days" rather than hundreds of hours.

HeHe, very true but still excessive. Personally I think 48 hours after last bid is plenty. 96 hours is for sure long enough but 278... wow

So we have to wait that long after last bid? I'm getting old just thinking about it

It was a typo - It supposed to be 872 Hours not 278 Hours.

Very annoying indeed. Even more annoying if the auction is also chosen in the 'promote your domain auction' on the main page. At this moment 2 out of 3 promoted auctions are held by 1 member and he set a 240-hour-after-last-bid. Meaning his domains could easily be promoted for a month if he receives regular bids. I've seen a thread recently where staff said there wouldn't be a change of rules "because some NP members only log in 1 or 2 times a month and those who hold auctions must be able to also bring their auction to this members' attention"

That wouldn't happen, because each time Promoted Auctions are selected, all previous auctions are removed unless the seller submitted it again to the thread and the auction was selected a second time (rare).

However, it does help to have a longer auction duration for Promoted Auctions (at least 4 days is optimal), because then the auction can appear in Promoted Auctions until the next batch is selected, which leads to more free exposure.

Also, the domain is 16 years old - so what are a fewww days...
Many auctions at eBay often have a similar time.

The longer the auction time, the more attention it gets which means better chances for a higher sale.

i agree. maybe he has other considerations and the domain is valuable so he expects lots of place bids at auction

Anyone serious about domaining would find the whole thing a complete waste of time and unless I really wanted a particular domain I would surely ignore his auctions. Even in this case I did not even get past the first post of the auction, I considered it a complete waste of my time and clicked away.

That's exactly right, the owner of the auction thinks he has greater odds of a sale and in my opinion he has less odds because guys like us will just ignore the auction.

It would be an interesting poll to take.

@Support Team could you please add a poll to this topic.

1. I would participate in a 278 hour after last bid auction.

2. Are you kidding me, I would ignore it.

3. I would participate only if it was an exemplary domain.

Namepros can at anytime implement a rule that there is a max on the amount of hours after a last bid.

Then it is obviously not the domain you reallyyy want.
Because otherwise you would take this "hurdle".

As long as there is no auction - time - limit - rule, there is no limit in auction time.
Actuallyyy I like this - it is not important to be like the other platforms, because they are the other platforms but this is nP and I appreciate this auction time - freedom, a long auction - time can turn out as a good "filter" to get potential buyers.

That is not an auction anymore. That is something you post and forget about.

There should be a rule that caps this at 48 hours. That’s more than enough time to bump and beg for more bids.
