Yes. For example, when submitting domain names to platforms like Brandpa.com. If they accept the name, woohoo, you keep it. If they don't, then you cancel the registration and get a refund. I feel that the standard 5 days window is a bit too narrow for that.

Dynadot offer the feature but it's the limit is 5 days

Yes, many registrars offer a standard 5 days period for cancelation and refund. I was wondering if there is someone who offers a longer period.

To be honest I wouldn't bother. Registrars will just ban you after you abuse that too much. And the one I have tried it with for a 1 time refund on a name charged me a fee to cancel. Not worth the headache.

Especially if all you're doing is submitting to Brandpa it's a pointless endeavor imo.

Well, I did this once with name.com and once with GoDaddy.com All went just fine, I got a refund, no extra charges, no warnings. I'm not planning to abuse this function, just use it once in a while and make sure to keep some of the names so I remain their paying client.

Also, I work in a field of branding so after completing some projects I am left with large lists of unregistered .com domain names available for hand registration. I check requests threads in this forum once in a while, (because I have registered some domain names that I believe are valuable) and sometimes I believe I have a right name, but it just lies there in one of my large lists unregistered so I can't offer it

You don't believe in Brandpa.com, that's fine. I have a portfolio of domain names on another platform similar to Brandpa.com. I averagely sell one domain name a month there so for me it's worth it to expand my portfolio there.

Well, now you do Just use it wisely.

Dynadot offers a 5 day grace period. You will not receive a refund, but rather a credit that can be used toward a future domain purchase. They also charge you a fee to cancel each domain purchase. $3 for .com, $2 for .org and I think only $1 for other TDL's.

PDR resellers offers 4 day grace deletion for $1 charge.

Almost every registrar offers this but there are limits as all registrars have specific limits to registration ratio of deleted domains. No one provides more than 5 days window.

Okay, then another question. Can you put a domain name on hold without actually registering it first?

my advice: if you aren't' confident enough finding and registering names without them being accepted at a marketplace than i would take some time, do some research and get to know the industry well enough before you spend your money.

Every Registrar's policy is different. GoDaddy seem to be the most generous. But I think every registrar is going to balk at bulk deletions (I would say). So you would need to ask your registrar of choice what their policy is. For example. Dynadot use a quota system for each TLD. So if you fall within their quota you would think you are OK. But for .com domains I tried to get a refund about mid-month, and their quota was already gone. So one tip would be to request refunds early in the month. Difficult to do if you registered the domains more than 5 days before the end of the month

The 5 days is the timespace registry gives to registrars for grace deletion. It means that for 5 days registrar is not charged for the domain, so can delete it.

So is impossible to "grace" delete a domain after 5 days , you can delete and not charged back as registrar will pay the registry for it anyway.

Dynadot has the most efficient system for grace deletions, can delete most of cctlds without quota with $1 deletion fee and gtlds with $1 fee also if they are ok with the quota.

Well, at GoDaddy and Name.com you can get a refund for your domain within 5 days from registrations without any fees (at Dynadot you have to pay $3 deletion fee) and any "wait lists".

You can submit unregistered domains to squadhelp and if they accept them, you can either register yourself or let them register to you. In the latter case they will give you a percentage of the sale if the domain get sold.

How many domains do you have in the portfolio? if you have 100 domains, that is 12% sell through rate a year which is god level great.

If you have that level of confidence, why do you not want to risk 7 dollars for a domain?
The cost of cancellation is about 4-5 dollars anyway, so in reality you are only risking 7 usd.

Also brandpa, brandbucket or squadhelp approval doesn't mean anything at all.
The sell through rate for brand market place is around 3-4%, which means 96% of their domains don't sell in a year. And their vetting process is OK, but not gold standard. There are dozens of instance where SH rejected domains have sold for 5-6K on Afternic or Dan landers, so don't use it as a vetting.

Just buy the domain you think are good. List them. Wait.

If you don't want any risk at all and ok for a lesser % of the sales, you can submit "Unregistered" domains to SH

Whenever I have a weird idea, I always submit to SH to be rejected of course.
