There are a lot of things discussed in the domain community on forums and blogs. As someone who created the dot tv sub forum and modded here for over a decade along with owning or managing several blogs, I have always tried to pay attention to what gets the clicks and what gets ignored.

A long time ago I remember a former member here once pm'ed me and said "Hey eq the education posts are cool but I just don't care, just please help me sell my names, I just care about the money!"

Use this thread to list what you would like to see more discussed and what you think gets too much coverage or you personally just don't care about.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Yes I believe the ultimate goal is to sell and profit from our investments.
But how are we to understand and maximize our profits without the knowledge.
I think the education really matters and I enjoy reading through the threads to learn more. Almost every thread I read I am learning something from what other members post.
If a title doesn't intrest me I will probably not click but I do read through alot.
I appreciate everyone's comments and feedback that try to help others in this industry.
So yes to me education matters. (y)
Thanks

I know, it's easy to say - but the truth content of high-priced domain sales (above XXX,XXX.XX USD) should be more questioned (should get more coverage).

I think 6 figure sales get a lot of coverage when they are released somewhere.

This may often be the case but I wrote "above (XXX,XXX.XX USD)" which implies / "includes" at least also 7 figures.

However, my main point is not if it is 6 or 7 figures - it's more the fact that there is often no "ultimate proof" for / behind such high sales ("person / company A sold domain X to person / company B for high X amount" is not an "ultimate proof" that there indeed happened a money transfer in this high X amount - also not if the WHOIS shows the domain transfer) - it simply appears often very "strange", especially if the domain in question is not resolving / actively in use after the sale / transfer...

What I want to see more here on Namepros is that MORE BUYERS and END USERS should visits this "domain ocean" Namepros, and buy their required names. Do not worry about the Sellers, they will automatically flyover here when there are lot of sales recorded. This is my small wish.

Less beating on the same old story. 4 of the last 7 posts on TheDomains has been about the .app extension. I wish someone would start a blog solely about .com domains.

What matters to you?

matter, matters... to me

without it,
there would be no sun to see

no earth, no water to drink
no people and no brains to think
then no universe, and no galaxy

so,in the end.....
only matter, matters to me

:)

imo....

Mike found something he was interested in, first posts from him since last October. And where I get where you are coming from, .app is the news right now, what is there left to say about .com?

.Com is king has been beaten more than any story in the history of domaining.

Well of course it includes 7, I figured you meant 6 and above. I do think proof is shown more for those sales than the people talking about selling for x,xxx and xx,xxx.

At the end of the day a lot of people seek everything from others but share little themselves. There are people who claim they need anonymity to post a comment about which registrar they like the best, not exactly a whistleblower or political activist that might actually need anonymity.

This has been an industry that has a lot of participants who feel, TOTAL TRANSPARENCY!!! well except for me.

Some sales I agree look shady, some are, some end users really don't change DNS or even update whois. I mean only so much you can do. With GDPR coming you ain't seen nothing yet, I believe we will see the Golden Age of domain scams.

One thing that really matters to me and should matter to everyone else (especially those who have yet to make sales) are negotiation tactics and strategies. I read James post everytime I get an offer, but it's still not enough. I'm looking into this topic in other areas, but I would love to see some more posts about the personal exchanges between customers and domain investors. We all like money, but I wonder how many people didn't get a deal because of their education or simply the way they stated their prices (I know I did).

Education and information is where the money is. For them not to realize that is a folly of their own.

What matters the most

what matters to me?

Knowledge is POWER.

Bits of real knowledge, tactics ,tools things to add to my strategy or help recraft my skill. First you get the knowledge then you get the money then you get power and the good looking women :xf.laugh:

My answer is probably boring, but I think that I get all the discussion topics / information I need from namePros + TheDomains + Domain Name Wire + Domain Sherpa + Online Domain (and a few more, including social media accounts).

Personally, I have lost most interest in topics such as random LLLL names (and similar), but still I know that many other are into this and it is very easy for me to just ignore these threads.

I would like to see more in-depth discussion about the charasteristics of good domains. A topic that gets often burried under endless discussion on domain(space) technicalities and who sold/bought what.

Here is a freshhh example of what I mean(t) - there is simply no "ultimate proof" for the stated "6 figure sale" = money transfer (or money handing over):

Brent Oxley Acquires CPU.com for 6 Figures
https://www.namepros.com/blog/brent-oxley-acquires-cpu-com-for-6-figures.1080368/#post-6708369

It's the message, that "...today we can reveal that Brent has added to his portfolio with the acquisition of CPU.com. The deal was brokered by James Booth of BQDN for a six-figure fee..."

I don't sayyy that I don't believe such "reports" in principle - but fact is, that it is "only" a "post" about the "reveal" of an "acqusition" of a "specific domain" for an "unknown six-figure fee", "brokered by a specific person" - but this all is no "ultimate proof" for a 6 figure - moneyyy transfer (or money handing over).

I can believe it or not (like many things I read or hear) - I simplyyy don't knowww
