Pheenix domains being moved to Encirca

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Just received this, which is not pleasant at all. Years ago I used encirca and it sucked. Not sure whether they have improved or not. Anyone familiar with them at this time?

Welcome to EnCirca!

EnCirca (www.encirca.com) was selected by ICANN to manage the bulk transfer of domain names from 49 Pheenix-related registrars recently terminated by ICANN. EnCirca was founded in 2001 and is based outside of Boston, Massachusetts USA.

Here is what to expect as we transfer over your domain names from Pheenix to EnCirca:

Next week the account owner will receive a second Welcome email from EnCirca with their account details.

The new EnCirca account will be based on the β€œtrue” email in the Registrant or Admin Whois contact that existed at the Pheenix registrar. If you were previously using a Whois privacy service at Pheenix, please note that this service is not carried over to EnCirca and the underlying data will be displayed in the Whois instead.

You will also receive a β€œverification” email as part of the new account creation process asking you to review and correct any inaccurate Whois data. You must update any inaccurate data and acknowledge this email or you may lose access to your domains.

It may take some time before you have the ability to make updates to some of your domains, due to the large number of Registrars involved in this bulk transfer. We appreciate your patience while we work through this process.

We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial business relationship!

Thank you,
EnCirca Support

You beat me, just opened NP to post that. I mean, wtf? I hope my domains will be intact... Although have only 3 there, but used to have close to 100 when Pheenix was a decent dropcatcher.

Won a domain regged at EnCirca before and it was a bad experience. Took ages and several failed attempts before they gave me access to my account. They were not responsive and when they finally managed to give me the correct username, their password reset function kept malfunctioning as well. After I got access I found the control panel to be outdated and not user friendly. I would not keep any domains with them.

I've only got 3 names left at Pheenix, all expiring over the next couple months. I wonder if I can just ignore this Encirca thing and let them expire. I really don't want to create yet another account.

Pheenix has terminated 450 registrars. Only domains from 49 of those will go to EnCirca. I believe most have gone or will go the "main" Pheenix registrar, which will remain open for now. Your Pheenix names might not be affected by this.

If they are and you don't want to keep them I suppose you can just ignore the account opening email from EnCirca and the domains will just end up expiring there.

I have used EnCirca for years in the past...
No problems there except 1st login to the autogenerated accounts...
And Yes, usability of their panel is bad...
They also fully support Sedo MLS.

They were terminated by ICANN.
And only ICANN decides which registrar will gain those domains.

My main problem with this is:

1.Their control panel and website sucks.
2. I don't agree to 60 day locks triggered because of this.
3. I don't see why I have to spend money transferring out domains that still have registration time left to avoid this.

All major functions are working in their panel including Bulk modifications...
But this requires some time to learn how it works...
The domain push to another account exists as well.
Instant transfer-out is not supported, 6 days.

+ they have LiveChat if any questions.

Try getting a domain buyer to use Encirca... It's probably a deal breaker unless no 60 days locks are triggered which I doubt (I hope I am wrong).

Many domains from EnCirca were sold in 4 and even 5-figure range on aftermarket... mainly Sedo.
I don't understand your panic.

Just sell and push it.

So is Pheenix toast? Wht's up with all of this?

450+ registrars is a lot of registrars. Will Pheenix be able to catch anything now?

I only had 1 domain on Pheenix. Which i just transferred away.

Now i have to move domains away from networksolutions and godaddy. Godaddy is just greedy and netsol has just bunch of retards. I just have 1 domain with them. They are not letting me transfer it away.

Stay away guys.

But can we still transfer out before the change?

How long did it take you to receive the Auth codes?
I requested to transfer out abut 30 min ago and still have not received the auth cods yet.

Yes, sometimes this happens at Pheenix... no AUTH codes at all or long delay...

I only have 2 domains left at Pheenix. Strangely enough it looks like they were moved from the random drop catch registrars to the Pheenix.com registrar a month and a half ago so no worries of encirca for me but I don't get why they didn't just move all domains over to the main Pheenix registrar unless they are completely closing down in the near future.

Yesterday I got them fast (5-10 min) but I'm moving the last ones now and have just received the first 2 auth cods after 45 min.
