How to speak to end-users that don't speak English

I had a verified offer that came in through one of my Efty landing pages from someone that doesn't speak English. I searched online for translations of the text they sent me, and it ends up that the end-user speaks an Asian language. A type of Asian language that doesn't come up through Google Translate (I found the translation through another site farther down on Google that translates to "want to buy for research"

I've sent emails in English and in the language I believe is the language of the end-user but it got me thinking.
I'm assuming people deal with end-users all the time that don't speak English or their native tongue and I'm curious to hear what people have done to communicate with end-users in this particular situation.

Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.

You can confidentlyyy ignore it.
If the person seriouslyyy wants the domain, he will contact you again - but in english.

I have a considerable Spanish portfolio so I am used to inquiries from Spanish-speaking markets. I speak Spanish so there is no issue responding. However sometimes Spanish names have an identical or other meaning in Portuguese. So I use Google translate as a tool. Note that automated translations are not perfect so rather than converting English to Portuguese I use the Spanish to Portuguese translation. I figure the Spanish to Portuguese translation is more accurate because the languages are similar. Regardless I include the response in English as that is the most accurate version of what I am trying to communicate. I will often include the note that I used Google translate for the conversion in the event the translation might have been different than what I intended. Note I have received inquiries for Spanish domains even from China. The good thing with Efty is you know where the inquiry is coming from.

If they're serious they'll negotiate with you in English. I'd be concerned doing a deal whilst using a translation service. Although some here like @Kassey Lee might be kind enough to help you.

Heard of the phrase 'something lost in translation'? Also if all else fails and the deal is worth it, i'd use something like SEDO, set the price and i'm sure they'll work it out. If you're worried about commission then add that on top.

@garptrader - I know Spanish too from High School but only a few phrases like, "where's the bathroom" and "ok class, take out your notebooks"

So true about Efty though. Definitely glad I switched most of my names to them.

Great advice everyone. Thanks! I'm just going to wait and see how it pans out. If their serious, they'll negotiate in English. It's a not a guarantee either so I'll just continue doing what I'm doing and we'll see if they email me.

why not mention which asian, because with that way, it can make your life much more easier! just FYI, there are a lot of asian country, and total population more than 2Bil, :xf.grin:

@MR Harrist - Lol, as far as I know it's a form of Thai, but I'm entirely sure whether it's Thai, Central Thai, or Siamese.

Either way, they have yet to respond to my two emails so I'm just going to wait and see. No point getting stressed over something that's not guaranteed anyways!
