The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Mandatory: Name+ Price
Optional/ Desirable: Venue and other details.

P.S: Trust fellow domainers to start probing if the Name and Price sold is too good :xf.wink:

Why wasn't that member warned or banned?
If the member has violated a rule, please use the Report feature.

Note: We do not have a rule against sharing partial sales information yet. That is the purpose of this thread.

i think he was referring to reporting a fake sale

It's already against the rules to share partial sales information in the "Report Completed Domain Name Sales Here" thread.

OP clearly states that sales reports must include: "As much information as you can include about the transaction is welcome, but at a bare minimum please include the domain name(s), the sale price, and whether you were the seller."

Any sales report post in that thread that does not include this information does not meet the "bare minimum" requirements of the thread can be reported for violating the thread rules. If you report a post that does not include the full domain name or the sales price, the mods have to move the post to this incomplete sales reports thread:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/discuss-and-report-any-details-of-domain-name-sales.998009/

As for new threads in the Domain Name Sales section, I agree with others here. All new threads/posts should be required to include both the full name and the sales price.

Please keep in mind we do not take action based on conjecture. If you have proof that he has reported a fake sale, then please use the Report feature and supply the proof in your report for us to investigate.

Thanks.

Correct; however, that is not our rule.

We're deciding on what our rule should be based on the feedback in this thread.

well.. on the other hand, making a few other things like venue.. offer/buynow.. purchase price and hold time.. compulsory.. would save everyone additional posts that now follow sale posts which only state price and name.

so maybe to avoid extra posts which now always come anyway... you can make all the info compulsory.

in fact, maybe you have a way to create a seperate forum... titled DOMAIN SALES... where you premake a templte everyone needs to follow...

so to post there, they need to enter name and price minimum.. but also see all the other fields (optional).

something like so:

*name:
*sale price:
venue:
offer or buynow or outbound:
hold time:
purchase price:

* = compulsory info minimum needed to post message.

so this means if they leave other fields empty, it means they do not know or do not want to provide this info... and this automatically would prevent others from asking for it.

Are we only talking about this info for the Domain Sales thread?

I like to share info on my sales in the particular niche thread, but never do in the domain sales forum. I have decided long ago not to give the domain name either, but I give other info that I find useful for others. For me, that won't change. I hope that it does not become a rule that domain names must be given. On Namebio, yes. On Namepros, I think that other information is just as important as giving a domain name. If we are only talking about the Domain Sales thread, then yes... give a domain name. But, if we are talking about the whole website, then I have a problem with that because I think lots of valuable info may get lost because people do not share.

Sometimes even a report with no full name might be useful, especially from a reputable member. So my suggestion would be to create a special section like "Incomplete Sales and Partial Names", something like that. And in the main section - the full name is must then. Thank you

At this time, we're only considering a rule that will apply to new threads dedicated to a single report.

Partial sales reports will still be allowed in a showcase thread dedicated to members reporting partial details about a sale.

exactly. which is why there already exists incomplete sales thread.. created by a member around 1 year ago.

So any new rules wouldn't apply to this:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/report-completed-domain-name-sales-here.83628/page-608#post-6689493

New rules would apply to threads similar to this:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/2-000-my-first-sale-in-undeveloped.1076573/

That thread already requires the full domain name and price to be supplied, as defined by its first post.

You may have meant this thread, which the rule would not affect:

Yes, that is correct.

However, the rule would not affect a thread where only a part of it is about a partially-shared sale. For instance, this thread contains advice for domain buyers, which also happens to include some details about the domain that was sold, and it would still be allowed:

Everyone seems to agree that the sale price and full domain name should be reported in a new sales report thread, but there seems to be some disagreement on whether the venue needs to be included.

Please discuss your opinions on the venue being included or excluded.

We appreciate your help.

Anything decided yet for future reporting sales with what minimum details to be shared?

Here's the new rule:

Rule 2.6. Do not create a thread solely for the purpose of reporting a sale unless at least the item's full name (e.g., domain name or business name) and sale price are shared within it. The exception to this rule is showcase threads where everyone can share partial details about their sales (e.g., "the name starts with insurance and sold for $XX,XXX") in the same thread (not limited to 1 showcase thread but rule 1.13 applies).

Please report any new threads (created after this post) that violate this rule. We will close them and inform the member to use a showcase thread instead.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
