Congrats on the sale.

I disagree with the other people that cry foul over not naming the domain. While it is nice to know the domain name, there are other things that can be discussed such as age of domain, how did you acquire it, method of sale, method of payment, any problems with transactions, etc. Feel free to keep the domain name private... it was your domain and sale, after all. (Bring on the dislikes.)

Congrats

I haven"t seen so many dislikes in any other thread.

slow down everyone.

@HiSmart may be planning to share the name or some other details.

give them a chance.

OP is clearly fooling around. Creates a thread '****IOT.COM SOLD*****

Technically it's ****iot.com (lowercase)..

But he sold a domain ending with elot.com.. check screenshot he shared in first post.

What a big fat liar he/she is :xf.wink:.. Got owned by his/her own screenshot.. lol

It's not IOT.. It's LOT!
That's the first thing I noticed when I stumbled on this thread. I was surprised noone else had mentioned it until you.

The name is all lowercase - so that is obviously an L.

Congrats with sale.

On the other side, if one is not going to share the domain being sold, imho it makes no sense to share last three (four, five etc) letters, as it makes many people feel they wasted their time reading that.

Yeah.. @MapleDots did notice it. But not many followed it i guess.

I disagree with that

It provides inspiration and made my morning. I very much enjoyed reading about @HiSmart 's success.
I am truly happy for him and hope he ignores any negative remarks.

Would I have liked more proof?.... not really, he provided enough.

Would I have liked to know the domain?.... sure but again he provided enough information.

9 letter .com ending in elot.com

Share the love, bask in the glow, be happy for another domainer, one day it could be you (y)

So a very good message from Mr. President himself :xf.wink:

OK now, this is interesting.

The domain name repeats at 3 locations in the screenshot and it is all lower case. So I believe @BrandMart is correct in pointing out that the domain ended in "LOT" & not "IOT". It is pretty obvious, don't you think?

OP should weigh in here and respond to this.

If it is really "LOT" & not "IOT" (it looks like it is LOT) then the thread is outrightly misleading. Though I am not entirely in favor of @AbdulBasit.com in threads like these where the domain name is not disclosed, it seems (and quite frankly, proves) that he has a valid argument.

It is very easy to fake such a sale or even misdirects (LOT -> IOT) and basically, create "pat my back" threads which don't do any good to us domainers in terms of learning or understanding the sector - in this case, Internet of things. What have we, who own other IOT domains learned from this? the sale isn't even for an IOT domain.

@Eric Lyon @Amanda I think its time we have rules in place & some procedure to check the validity of the domain name & the sale - whether the actual sale happened before it is submitted in this section of the forum (irrespective of whether the name is disclosed or not).

So is it IOT or elot @HiSmart? 😏This is starting to look fake or an obvious misrepresentation.
