question Who owns a.com?

A.com and most single letter/digit domains were reserved by IANA back in 1993. Any registered before that were grandfathered in, such as:

i.net
q.com
q.net
x.org
z.com

I do not believe A.com was one that was grandfathered:

No one owns A.com nor can they unless it is decided to be made available by the powers that be.

I had heard rumors about Overstock trying to get O.com - so I am sure with enough money verisign and what other organizations are involved might consider releasing one of the reserved domains.
