Easy is a famous mark in the UK, and its owners are very aggressive with UDRPs. The domain was owned by Microsoft in the not so distant past, but not anymore.

Current bid for Easy.net is $25.000 (not my name)

Your view is biased, because you have enough .net to sell.

Just one example of easy.net does not represent entire population of .net names.

Also, you have no idea about who bidded 25k for easy.net and for what purpose, what was his utility in this domain?

.net is never going to have the same mindshare as .com does.

They never said .net will compete with .com

They are just pointing out a fact.

The fact is "strong single word .nets" do have value.

What is wrong with you? did I say anything wrong?

Wow, now this is a new revelation in the scheme of domaining. Who'd of thunk so. Thanks for sharing this insight on this.

Easy. Any extension is going to have good resale value. (I am sure someone will think of a few, but....)

There's always relatively rare occasions where a .net might be worth a lot of money...
  • "easy" for me is one of the best keywords as people are tired of time-consuming tasks and complexity in everything.. a lot of big companies have slogans with "easy", "simple" , "simplified".
  • Also in this case, I can see it as a hack domain for "EASYNET" in the sense of easy internet or intranet or network services, etc...
That being said I don't think it sets a benchmark for most one-word .NET domains. Only super high value one-word terms

I've sold several .net domains for five figures but I would not touch that one, based on the .com's notoriety with UDRP filings.

Guys, its “easy” - I mean its english word! I know parking it and showing TM ads would be easy win for the complaint. But I would write winning response myself

They should set up an Easy UDRP service.

It's a bid, not a sale. Just $1 under -
Reserve Range: Between $25,001 and $50,000

Sales matter, not bids and offers.

Don't know the deal with that one. Sometimes people just like to be at the show and bid up on names they have no intention of actually owning (or other reasons), under reserve.

That happens all the time, and it's either a shill bid by a friend of the owner, or a thrill bid by a domainer.

May be it is your view which is biased because you do not own any .net and you only buy .com

Actually Most .net owners are pioneers domainers and have seen more than anyone else

So as posted above, A dollar under the reserve, How funny somebody didn't bother reading that important bit before going for a headline post. Bit of a shame when the so called experienced hands make a very newbie mistake. lets face it there are hundreds+ of shrill biding examples to reference

I believe most wise heads abandoned .net as a Purchase/registration from around 2009 (probably earlier) that doesn't mean some of us don't still value a few nets that we still own from the early days. But it would take a newbie to investing to try and launch a reasonably valued business start-up on one these days

on so many reseller sites (including sedo) you see many bids right up to reserve (minus 1 to 10 dollars) and the reseller sites are happy to let them sit there for months as if they are genuine. As if a real bidder/the seller and listing site couldn't get-it-together over a $10 difference. Got to make you laugh how the entire business is built on Showboating.

Admittedly I was a bit harsh on John's leading post. but we are the ones that really should know far better
