The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It is dead if one stops trying.

Like anything in this world.

No bro, it's completely depend on the names and i have recently sent only 30 emails and get 2 respond.
you can say, outbound sales some dropped because many marketplace establishing and enduser going there for minimize the risk.

That's right, so the thing to do is to learn this skill & do it right so it doesn't look like junk.

I really think it is something that should be studied & practiced.

Isn't marketing products via email a spam? food for thoughts!

Speaking as an end user myself, as someone mentioned above the relentless spam from India and other third world countries selling SEO, web design etc. have made me completely lose interest in inbound emails.

I just received an inquiry from someone for a domain I own and even that I couldn't care less about with how busy I am and frankly i'm sick and tired of the barrage of junk emails every day. The only thing that would catch my attention is someone approaching me making a serious opening offer, anything else either gets deleted, maybe a fast reply asking to make a serious offer or ignored entirely. Outbound now for anything other than really premium domains is a waste of energy if you ask me.

A lot of good points, I use to always read that Outbound is a numbers game and you have to reach out to a ton of people before you see any responses or results. Also that reaching out to the right decision maker makes all the difference. Even though I agree with both statements I still feel Outbound takes up to much time and not worth the results you get.

You are better off focusing your time and efforts on buying domains that are in demand so that way you have more inbound inquiries you can follow up on and close. If you have a premium .com you won't need to waste time with outbound, people will come to you due to the higher demand.

Domain name spam is not different, it's always crap names. Proof
SEO spammers did not invent spam, spam for Viagra has been around for two decades.

It's not forbidden to out reach out to qualified leads for some reason. E-mail that is untargeted and not personalized and unsolicited is spam. There can be a fine line between marketing and spam, but if you contact end users to peddle crap domains that are not even relevant to their needs, you are spamming.

Like other domainers/end users I have been on the receiving end many times. Needless to say the quality of domains was consistently terrible. It's almost as if they were looking at you like a potential landfill for garbage names that should never have been registered in the first place.

I'm guilty of this for my recent auctions for ico domains.

I looked for all registered domains starting with ico and ending with the ending keyword on my ico domains.

If for no other reason but to bump the views on my auctions.(not that anyone viewing live auctions care that an auction had 1200 views or more.

I wish sedo had instead of push a bid to 7 day free auction but instead a free 30 day auction.

30 days is a proper amount of time to get more bids on a domain that already had say a $2,000 bid.

But 7 days? That's not enough time to convince someone who never thought about buying another domain similar to theirs.

Nor did they plan on spending $2,000-$5,000 "out of the blue"

Sedo should change this policy if it expects to make higher sales from their "offers" pushed to auction for free.

It doesn't even make sense to pay $59 to do a 30 featured listing on sedo on a domain you pushed to auction after a bid. When you have less than 7 days.

Mind you it takes a day or two to set up a 30 day featured auction.

I tried this. Total waste of money.

"outboud is dead" "outbound is not worth your time" "outbound is spam" "it's a lot of money" I hear it a lot from 99% domain investors that want to make a quick buck.

If you want to make a serious flow of monthly income with outbound then look up the remaining 1% like @Federer and a few others on here that built persistence, discipline, a system and grit. They make $XXXX+/month with outbound domain sales.

I already do outbound, and the result are pretty bad!:xf.laugh: I sent almost thousand emails to targeted end user! and most reply are no thanks! :xf.grin: I have to admit, doing outbound for first time can be discourage domainer mentality! and if you lucky, you will get nasty reply!, I never get that kind of reply! because I always mention their names!:xf.grin:

personally doing Outbound actually are not bad idea! because the cheapest and the fastest way to make sales from domain, are from outbound email! another alternative ways, is by using relevants ads! but with ads, it will cost you a money! and even if you pay money for ads , I think it will not solved the problems! because the problems from the first beggining is our domain names! because recently after I improved my domain Quality, it seem, response from end user are improve!:xf.grin:

but if you ask does outbound worth to try ? then my answer is, yes! as long you have good domain!, you can get easy sales! but if your domain are not good, most of the time, you will get no good reply!:xf.grin:

just consider, Outbound as Reality Domain Appraisal :xf.grin:

if to many no thanks or no reply mean your domain are BAD :xf.grin:
if you get how much, mean your domain GOOD! :xf.grin:

On the other side, I get 'outbound' sales phone calls and emails from website development companies offering to develop a website, when I reg or acquire domain. Average 5 emails and 10 calls per week nowadays :) Whois lookup still rocks.

And many of them are from India. Seriously, not every knowledge should be shared with people because you have no idea what damage they can do with it. But we never know.

I do not know who taught these guys things like this.

For outbound email marketing to produce profitable results:

- The domains needs to be related to products/services (and can include U.S. cities)
- Emails must be very brief (max 2 paragraphs), sent one by one and be as personalized as possible.
- If the domain is at least average in quality, you will need to send the offer to more than 40 leads.
- In your opening email, your domains must be BIN-priced in the "outbound sweet-spot" ($150-$550 range)
- If you are buying the right types of names, you are doing well if you sell 1 in 10-12 domains. It will be profitable as long as the sales cover the expenses. Once you have a system working, you can then scale-up.

but consider:
if you hit the right guy
he will buy

if you hit the wrong guy
he won't

You set the price for your domain, so if you are not completely SOLD on your product, don't expect anyone else to buy from you. The mentality of having "others" or endusers appraise your domains by asking for an offer is why you don't make sales.
I get excited when people reply "No thanks"!!!
It's great if they buy from the get go, but you must contact and followup your prospects 8-10 times before they buy from you.
