"Thanks for the email, we don't really need another domain, but I see the evaluation is ~$850, so can give you $450.00 for it, would that work?"

any suggestions how to react?

If they offer $450 based on an appraisal they seem to place some credence to they are likely willing to pay $500. If you want more than ten times the Godaddy appraisal they are going to say it isn't worth that much.

What is this tool you are using? Seems quite interesting with the detailed stats showing up.

I would say outbound names only you are willing to let go not something you want to stick your price to, it usually works better for low xxx to low xxxx range.

However as for your response to third email, just write up an email on what price you can come down to as in anywhere between $3 to $6K leaving some room for you to come down, also when you respond with a quote like this one, It'd be helpful to justify it.

Cheers

The paid version(s)? It has some plans. Looks like all emails where read. Regarding the 450 offer, I dont think therr is much you can get from lead since they appear to be using a wellknown appraiser.

Pretty bad results.

You need to send less eMails to more targeted people. You should almost always get a 'how much' response. If you are not you really need to fix who you are sending the emails to and what you are saying.

If I send 10 emails at least 6 are going to ask how much, 3 will say no, and 1 might not respond.

Did you get these addresses from WhoIs information?

would be interesting to see your email template

I am sending to the right target businesses
but maybe to the wrong people
or maybe the domain is bad

I use hunter

wow, your response rate is phenomenal (10 emails: 10responses) , I would also be interested in the template you use.

for hand reg domain, personally I will accept $450, :xf.grin:, but if I spend $100 for the domain, maybe I will ask, 600. or more! its really hard to make negotiation with outbound, because buyer not in needy postion, so if they don't like the price, they can just walk away and leave! the good side about outbound, is you don't have to wait 11 month to make 1 sales! :xf.grin: that's all.

so basically fast money low price, or inbound, slow money high price!

I don't do much outbound. Usually only very targeted emails and calls, if I do reach out. I find that it is easier to make my sales goals through auctions, etc.

I have sold a few via outbound, but it's hard chasing people down.

Quick story....

I hand regged the domain DrMLKJr.com. Stands for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I decided to donate the domain to the Dr Martin Luther King Foundation. I sent an email to them offering the domain a few weeks ago. I almost immediately get an email back very graciously accepting the gift and asking what the process of transferring the domain would be. I responded saying that they needed to have an account at GoDaddy or create one. Never heard back again. I'm not going to chase them to give them a gift.

Even trying to give away a domain completely free via outbound can be tricky. :)

1) "how much?"

This is the perfect answer as all you really want for a reply to the first outbound contract is for the other party to be a) willing to talk to you and b) seem to have an actual interest in the domain. The next email to the potential buyer should include the price.

2) "No thanks. Would you be interested acquiring iamadomainsquatter.com? "

These type of replies are obvious don't write back to. Sometimes we get in a habit of getting into discussions on a forum and you want to carry that debating or explaining style on an eneduser that disagrees or is rude or clearly doesn't understand the business. But the reality is there nothing to gain from getting into these debates. Plus always consider people have a right to be upset with domain spam. It would also be really embarrassing to five months later send this person another "want to buy my domain" email so should have a method to permanently block a repeat send.

3) Thanks for the email, we don't really need another domain, but I see the evaluation is ~$850, so can give you $450.00 for it, would that work?"

First of all, this has a real offer in the answer so it has to be respected even if it is way off.

The problem is no matter how much we domainers know about generated valuations, to the uneducated on domains enduser, it truly feels like an unbiased evaluation from a respected international third party. This type of answer will only get bigger in the future.

You could offer a quick explanation to the buyer of how computer-generated valuations would be calculated and that the GD system would be tweaked in the direction(lower) of quick sales to get money flowing.

You could offer some similar sales.

To me, it would be ugly, but could do the "Yes GD has it at $xxx but Estibot has it at $xxxx" Type of thing. But might have to take a shower after lol

The point is you have to defend your price in some way (and your own way) or give up the sale or counter within reach of the $450

Good Luck

Thanks for the information. Without knowing the name, it is hard to know how realistic the $500 is. They seem to value automated appraisal - I presume you would communicate the Estibot valuation if that is higher and supports your case, along with some Namebio comparator sales.

The 2017 median price for a .com sale listed in the Namebio database was $301, and so far in 2018 it is $260. Almost always names go for less than GD GoValue I would think. Unless it is a really fine name, you may need to rethink your expectations. Good luck with completing a sale!

@frank-germany

I'm doing less and less outbound, because of these types of responses..

Even on some inbound offers that say $250, although the bin is set at $2500... When you don't accept.. they start about you've bought it this day based on whois, you probably payed this much, you are this you are that.. basically being insulting.. No time to waste with these people..

Then you have the buyer that pays $2000 or $2500+ bin no questions asked... and you remind yourself you're in the business for those type of deals.

Often it's tech people that want to impress their boss or they own a business and believe the world owes them something for free or for very cheap.

Quote: Johname "... and that the GD system would be tweaked in the direction (lower) of quick sales to get money flowing".

You and I do think alike. This Godaddy system is a major problem ahead for those who want more than minimal prices for their domains. I found it was averaging about 1/2 of my asking prices - and things were selling at my prices, which are similar to my competitors. GoValue tells them they are being cheated - buyers would have to be really strong to stand up to that.

Soon any price above the GoValue will be difficult to achieve. And GoValue is grossly inaccurate, for example short domains where the programmer is UNAWARE of the Chinese impact of the last few years. GoValue values some CHIPs at under $100 when they auction at about $1000.

The old rule is "Garbage in = Garbage out" They have a lot of work to do, that they do not seem interested in doing.

@JoeStyer , although he is probably tired of hearing about this from me.

Go ask a successful broker for their script. The real script, not the garbage DN Academy recommends that you spam out the the planet. Prepare yourself for the laughs.

Your responses sound like the responses I got my first day of outbound when I spammed 100 of the the wrong people with the wrong words. You can keep doing what you are doing or you can fix it.

Here is a typical response that I get:

Code:
Dear Mr. xxxx,

thank you for kind offer to our owner. It has been transferred to us as we handle trademark and domain issues. We will discuss your offer with our communication colleagues and respond as soon as possible.

Kind regards

Amazing how it sounds like none of your responses. But you insult people because it can't be fathomable you can get these kinds of results.

By the way, this was in response to an $80k ask price to an international fortune 500 company. Their budget did not meet my expectations, but they discussed it back-and-forth over 58 times (tracking).

Pe curând!

we all know that fortune 500 companies are typically owned by an "owner"
