Josh, Thanks for your time and effort on reporting such valuable information.

I see that you are dedicated on what you are doing and smart on creating quality content for your publications.

Thanks!

We need more people like you in our community!

I also enjoy watching Omar & Will series. Would love to see you guys co-operate in some Vlogs.

@Willox Perez @Omar Negron

Couldn't agree more. The Omar & Will series has filled a void for me. With the departure of Michael Cyger from the Domain Sherpa show, Omar & Will are filling my need for video and I couldn't be more grateful.

I don't see that it has affected the number of members reporting their sales at all. Maybe in a positive way you mean?

This is the 3rd report and total sales numbers have gone up month over month....not down.

In fact we have over 20 reported sales already in the first 4 days of the month...

The increase in number of reported sales is not related to your blog post at all and you know it. I am sure most members who report sales aren't even aware of this thread. But I will let them know and we will see whether they appreciate it or not.

If a domain name is masked on NamePros, maybe Josh will consider masking it in his article too. Then, everyone will be happy.

However, I recommend using a single style of masking (E.g. spaces: e x a m p l e . c o m) in the articles even though members use many different styles (E.g.: e/x/a/m/p/l/e/./c/o/m).

Hope that helps,

Pretty sure I never said it's related to my blog post.... I said that it's nonsense that reported sales have gone down but Okkkk @Haris :) .. I have a pretty good relationship with most members here so they can approach me whenever they want. We don't need you to mediate.

Just letting them know. Personally, I don't care if my buyers find these sales reported, I would prefer they don't find out, but not a big deal for me, I just feel most members won't appreciate it, if they don't care, then there is no point in obfuscating the domains in their posts.

@Haris I appreciate your concern for other members but no need to be the hero here. Anyone that has a problem with this report can DM me directly.

I've previously stated AND will state again. If you want to keep the sale "masked" then just make it clear in your post. Just like @Recons.Com has done in the past.

See February reported sales - https://thedomainblog.org/reported-domain-sales-namepros-february-edition/

You'll see that J/o/u/z and N/o/b/l/e M/e/t/a/l are masked.

Having said this. If you report a sale that that you shouldn't be reporting. ANYONE can see it and retype it. If you sell a name on Afternic/Sedo/Flippa without a clue who the buyer is, then who cares? Afternic/Sedo/Flippa has the authority to report the sale anyway.

I'll leave it at that for today.

I find the thread useful. Especially with the OP respecting the masked ones.

The admins have an obligation to clearly communicate to the completed sales forum users that their masking has been undone and will continue to be ignored, and what that means.

No one is talking about NDAs here - sellers have a legal obligation to not speak about such sales.

But the majority of the completed sale posts are meant for the eyes of fellow NamePros only, for mutual benefit, to learn about techniques and trends etc. It is not for the public at large. I don't want my buyer to google the domain name they just acquired and immediately find out the initial cost, the negotiation history etc.

I don't think I am over-reacting here.
“No one is talking about NDAs here - sellers have a legal obligation to not speak about such sales.” ... 😳

Not sure what you are talking about, but as a personal favor to you, I won’t report your sales if I see any from you.

By the words of Eric Lyon, “I hope that helps”.

I'm retracting, our logic was flawed here. Thanks

If they already sold the name why would they want to hide it from Google?

Isn't it the buyers concern?

Just don't get it, hope someone can explain why.

I don't post my sales myself but if i did and i put slashes through my domain name that means I do not want it indexed.

Reasons memebers may not want them indexed maybe they sold it to a buyer of theirs or another domainer. Maybe they don't want that price to be the benchmark Or maybe they sold it to an end user and they don't want the end-user to see them bragging about it, because they want him to come back for another domain whatever the reason maybe you should respect the posters decision to leave it unindexed and ask the op if they would be okay with you putting it in a sales chart

There's tons of reasons why people do not want their sales index and then there's other reasons why they post on namepros to try to help others learn from their sales still even not wanting there sales indexed thats what the / are for.. respect the /

I dont post my sales any more because i dont want people in my business and now even i decided one day i would. the fact that you will post it somewhere if i put slashes through it. I definitely wont.

@stub - these are reported sales by NamePros members. They are reported by the owner/seller and most of the time, can’t be found elsewhere.

I also did a report in Jan and Feb.
Ha well you can ad LoyalDog .com to that list for $5000 (Another 15yr hold) as i sold that as well as CryptoCorp .com :xf.smile: It was a good month.

I personally think the respectful thing to do is if the person reports the sale masked then it should be masked. You are scraping info so scrape as the seller intended with their post. They should not have to say Mask this. It should be obvious.

There are many reasons to keep it masked that don’t involve NDA’s. Like common courtesy to the new owner who might be building a site on it.

Agree when seller reports with / then to keep the sale masked should be default criteria. not otherwise. rest good work by josh.
