Chamath Palihapitiya turns on crypto

Another Billionaire turns his back on crypto. The hot bull market is now the bear market

I did wonder how long it would take for this fake-market-cap fiasco to come to an end

"Right now, crypto-currencies are used for buying fentanyl and other drugs so it is a rare technology that has caused deaths in a fairly direct way. I think the speculative wave around ICOs [initial coin offerings] and crypto-currencies is super risky for those who go long.

Been hearing this story since bitcoin got started.

When Bitcoin got started it was mostly used has a dark coin, to buy ilegal stuff like drugs and other stuff. It was a heaven for drug dealers because it was a trade and not a actual currency plus there were no records of transaction only the buyer and seller had access to their bitcoin account and could see the transaction.

Conclusion big headache for cops and paradise for criminals but even with all that bad press bitcoin rise'd to 20,000$ for 1 bitcoin.

There are lot of bad press recently on crypto people saying to dump their crypto and crypto domains while they can the market is going down and it's going to be worthless. Everyone has the right to have their own opinion but my opinion is that's complete crap.

There are a lot of people taking advantage of this saying dump your crypto names has i'm doing the same, then i see that same person reg hundreds of crypto names lol.

I do believe crypto especially bitcoin did rise to highest $ it could rise and that it will maintain around x,xxx$ to low xx,xxx$ but saying it's going to be worthless and going to go down to xxx$ that's crap at least for this and next year.

Valid points, Personally, I invested in technologies like Factom in the beginning it had real-world use *all holdings now sold.

I hear the same regurgitation "payments is a problem", what world do these people really live in? What does stripe or transferwise do all day every day? I can go on but no need

As far as I can see, blockchain is a double entry bookkeeping system that will absolutely will stay now forever, It's a great piece of technology granted.

Tokenization of worthless coins with ZERO skin in the game is done, Even the biggest fools by now realize this not to mention the fake-market-caps. It's 2018 and bitcoin doesn't have the utility to process a refund

Whatever the market correction will be, it's anybody's guess. Like Chamath said it's a joke any person/s buying this crap own nothing of nothing - thus no money returned to capital providers

We'll see in a few years :)
Does it really have that amount of time? High profile projects like Ripple and Iota are already totally unsalvageable, companies and people have invested time + money and the cat is already out the bag.

They're valid project's in there but the token doesn't represent a business nor a business model or a way for investors to be returned a profit for their hard earned capital. Even worse the token doesn't represent any share of a real company

I can't fathom a positive thought of how this ends well for the majority

Right now, crypto-currencies are used for buying fentanyl and other drugs....
And Cash isn't used to buy drugs?
If there is a currency that has more deaths, drugs and blood on it, it's the good old American Dollar.

There might be about 90% of outright scams among issued coins-tokens. Other 5-7% will fail to deliver.
However, I expect that some coins-tokens will be popular and usable and as a result, their price will sky-rocket 100x and more. A similar destiny of 90ies dotcoms.. Amazon and Microsoft are flourishing while other thousands startups have ceased to exist.

It's all unpredictable whether the stock market, domains, crypto, or business in general. If you only spend what you can afford to loose you'll be just fine. :xf.wink:
