Hello guys..

I have been scrolling through appraisals for the past few weeks and appraising a number of domain names. A common problem I see there is that many of the domain name investors are not exposing their domain names to proper buyers.

Now how do you do that and what is the need?

NEED

The need of exposing or getting your domain name in front of a number of potential buyers is that you never know who might end up buying your domain name. Right? If you have certain buyers in mind and are only going for outbound, well and good. If not, why leave your domain name just hanging around and relaxing. Get it on the platforms where buyers go to find, hunt and buy domain names. Get it exposed. Get it in front of their eyes.

I don't think you are involved in this business for HOBBY. Even if you are, why not do it properly. Any business requires HARD WORK and efforts and that's what I am telling you to do. Instead of lazying around, park your domain names with platform.

HOW DO YOU GET YOUR NAMES EXPOSED?

Well, the best way is to place it where there is already a buyer traffic. Platforms like Sedo, Afternic, brandbucket(for brandables) and 'n' number of others are just lying there. They form a symbiotic community. Park your domains. That will help you get exposed to buyers, probably small revenue from traffic and parking adverts and will even provide you with an insight if the domain has existing traffic on it.

There have been times when I have flipped certain names and then got to know that it had some traffic and could have sold for a lot more.

A lot of crypto domain investors put forth a query as to what should they price and how will the buyer approach them. If it's a trend, you need to be active to catch it. Unless you give your name a proper exposure, just sitting and waiting to get lucky might not work.

So, take small steps. Go for SMART work. Park your domains. Put a BUY NOW with Make OFFER. Wait for buyers. You never know what someone might be looking for.

PLAY IT SMART is what I wish to convey!

I think it's not everlasting but if you foresee it or take the exit at the right time, it is worth the risk considering time input is small.

Anyone differs in opinion? Any thoughts on this?

I don’t care for Afternic GoDaddy etc. Your own pages work just fine. I like Brandpa too. Honestly anyone who doesn’t have their names up somewhere are probably in a very small minority.

Be sure to tweet about your domain name at least one time in month with hashtag of related induatry.

Does that work?

I mean how has your experience been?
Did you make any sale with that by any chance?

Ya parking pages are good too.
The bottomline is to not let the name hanging for the buyer to go for a whois check and contact you. Make it easy for them to make a direct offer.

My most recent "pending sale" came through an EFTY lander initial offer $300. I had recently renewed the domain so they may have been hoping for it to drop. I told them the domain was available at Godaddy (at a higher price) as most offers don't turn into sales. A couple weeks later they come back and say that they see via WHOIS that the domain is available for $599 (price at Godaddy) and offer $600. I plan to go through SEDO Escrow though two attempts have not yet gone through.

Yes, its work & I have sold a domain name by tagging a crypto coin called "File/coin" a domain name.

I liked and agree with most of your original post. In fact, it reminds me that I should start putting some of my names on the higher traffic places such as Sedo, Afternic, etc... (I just hate paying those lofty commissions -- but I have to realize that paying a commission is better than no sales)

One thing I try to avoid is parking some of my higher valued domain names. My concern is that some of the ads those parking places might put on the landing page could be used against me in a trademark dispute. I do have a few names parked as they earn a little revenue and cover the cost of my hosting and Efty marketplace. But I don't park any of my higher valued domain names where I can't control the Ads that are going to be displayed on the page.

DN

It will depend on quality and if someone/business has a use for your domain. They may never sell but keep your hopes up and be patient.Definitely patience.

Use the advice given to you and list on platforms, use landers, and do outbound if need be.

Good luck!

Oh, and if you do not get offers say within a year just drop them and move on.:xf.wink:

My experience on this is that it increased the number of offer views for my domains 10 to 20 times. Good hashtag game makes a huge change.
I didn't make any sale, but got an offer through PM on Twitter.
Anyway i think it is a good thing to advertise your domains through Twitter. It's free and leads a lot of visits to your domain selling page.

About your original post - i think it is crucial to place your domains to some of the domain selling venues. As you said - it is dumb to expect a end-user to know about and use whois to find your domain.
Even better if it is a landing page (it looks more professional) that also can point a potential buyer to your own marketplace (if you have one). That's why i like services like Efty or marketplaces like Undeveloped. And even if you have a landing pages for your domains, you should list them at the main marketplaces. Additional exposure can't hurt.

That has been the case too. But that has even happened in negotiations when parties did not come to a deal and later took to legal help.

I'm listing my domains at different prices, sedo, undeveloped, afernic so far and going to be setting up LinkedIn profile under company name - reason for different prices is so buyers might feel they are getting a better price....Twitter idea sounds good and will also be looking into specific trade forums as well for promotion - any other places would be nice to know about though
