Huge gap between reported sales and auction prices of 4 letter dot com domains ( most available below $200)

When i started in January, 2018. i had a tough time in finding 4 letter domains even on .xyz..now it's all changed.

Plenty available in .net, .org and other extensions with no takers.

is it worth hoarding 4L.Com names at this price?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
There was a bubble created by asian investors, similar to how it is now with crypto domains. But that doesn't matter because end users will find the names they need which are hopefully the ones you own. A lot of 4L.com are as worthless as the sub $50 prices they used to fetch on ebay.

i agree to a point. A domain is only as valuable as the worth someone else puts on it. However I like to apply the law of limited supply and demand here. There are less than 300k LLLL.com and lord knows how many of those are already registered by endusers. IMHO these names will continue to have value simply due to their scarcity

If it fits their branding, where else is an enduser searching for a short acronym going to go. Two & three letter .com's are not practical for most and if the 4L.com you have fits their name exactly or a name they are willing to create, then the limit of their budget is the only limit on your sale.

The same experts who profess not to pick anything without atleast 10 extensions taken are the first one's to bid on these random letters with just 1 extension taken.
And the irony of these so called liquid domains is that many are holding these for donkey's years.

Overall Reported sales till date are less than 3000 if not for some action in the Auctions/ wholesale segment:xf.grin:

I've held mine for donkey's years and it is no sweat off my back. They generate enough revenue to pay for renewals and I am in it for the long term not short term.

If the spin is for long term then it's not liquid...Good Luck!

is it worth hoarding it after buying it at around $200?

They are the most affordable domain investments, not like ..in domains which NIXI has taken control of without any kind of notice
Keeping 50-100 domains is not very expensive.

Some pronounceable and highly brandable 4L seem to me a bit undervalued:

DOVA.COM $ 30,000

FORT.COM $ 66,500

TRAP.COM $ 50,000

BUDA.COM $ 29,750

VANT.COM $ 59,000
