With the revamped website, Dynadot has also changed the procedure to unlock a domain and obtain it's auth code. I'll outline the old and the new process below:
Old Process:
If you wanted to unlock and obtain the auth code for an expired domain, you do the following:
1. Contact support to remove the expired flag and then unlock the domain yourself (or Support can also unlock the domain for you)
2. View the domain details page to get the auth code
New Process
1. Visit the domain page and request for unlocking the domain
2. Wait for 5 days while Dynadot "processes" your request to unlock the domain
3. Obtain auth codes
4. Initiate transfer and hope it goes through fine
I absolutely do not understand why @Dynadot would make it so difficult to unlock the domain. Obviously, there isn't a technical requirement or a policy restriction. This is all their own doing. And in making this change, they're now worse than Network solutions who have a 3 day waiting period for auth codes (To be clear, network solutions has a 3 day waiting period for auth codes for all domains and not just expired domains. Dynadot has a waiting period of 5 days for expired domains only, as of right now).
In my opinion, this is a highly retrograde move and requires that you unlock and request for auth code at least 5 days in advance of the last day of the RGP. Highly regressive change that just does not make sense.
