It’s a seller’s market for domains suggestive of Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, and blockchains. The domain name Tokens.com sold for $500,000 in February. Cryptoworld.com sold for $195,000 in January. Eth.com sold for $2 million at the end of 2017. Blockchain.us wants $3.45 million, and Ethereum.com is asking for $10 million. In this climate, a domain like Crypto.com is likely worth millions of dollars. But Matt Blaze, who has owned it since 1993, isn’t selling.

“No, my domain name isn’t for sale. Yes, I mean it. Yes, I’ve probably already muted you,” he tweeted in September.

Interesting read. In the article there are estimates that Crypto.com is worth $5 to $10 million, what do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
cyptolife.com and coinlife.com not worth much.

cryptoworld.com also wasn't worth much until it was sold for $195,000, just $15 in 2011.

I'll see what you say if I sell Crypto.Life at least for $50,000

imo, these big dollar crypto/bitcoin domains have just in-effect dropped immensely in value what with google banning their ads starting in june. In addition, there's the high potential negativity of some nations possibly stopping their transactions in the future. I'm calling it for that market, which imo can go nowhere but down from here. I have a dozen of these names and just put them all on non-auto renewal.

@namemarket please send me a list of your domains, maybe we can figure something out. The question is how easy it is to limit or forbid a decentralized technology that is designed from scratch to be resistent against manipulation. In my opinion it is not right to always react too much according to the latest news – you will always find either good or bad press if you are searching for it.

My 12 were all hand-reg and no valuation or reg fee if any value at all (even before the big google banning announcement), and not worth the time and effort trying to sell them but thanks anyway. My potential loss will be under $120 total. I rarely bother trying to sell my very low value and no traffic names in any category, but just let them drop.

I would gladly pay $4,000,050 for cypto dot com then flip it for $8,000,000+

I think that Google banning the ads will make domains more valuable because great domains work well with 'traditional' advertising. If you have a great domain name then people will remember it and even frequently come back to the site or will pass along the site as a referral for word-of-mouth.

Crypto relies heavily on this word of mouth sentiment, so I think that all of our crypto and coin domains increase in value now rather than having them depreciate.

With Google Ads you could just have any $8.99 junk domain and link it to your ad campaign - instant ICO ! Now you need a new way to stand out. So making a grandiose domain acquisition instead of spending that with Google might just do the trick.

CryptoGame.com just sold for $85k, so crypto/coin related domains are just fine - for now.

The larger concern is for the crypto market as a whole. It seems that the tulips have wilted. I think a sub $2000k BTC takes a massive chunk out of our domain values. Right now, I would still hold on and renew imo.

"who has owned it since 1993, isn’t selling."

This was mention in the article.

@Premiums mention:

"Tot I saw this name listed on sedo
nothing new...

I bought a domain name through Sedo at BUY NOW price
I've sent the money to Sedo. Everything's fine

March 12th
Transaction cancelled by the seller !
Sedo mentioned : As the seller is not or no longer the owner of this domain, he is not authorized to sell it.

source https://www.namepros.com/threads/new-ventures-services-beware.1070372/ "

I checked out the thread and it's mention by @coucou

"Well. I checked out the WHOIS : the owner is still New Ventures Services.
I've sent an email to New Ventures Services and asked if the domain is for sale."

I'm confused how can the whois record show the owner was New Venture Services (in any point of time) if Matt Blaze is the owner of this domain name since 1993 and if New Venture Services were the owner once it had to be before 1993, so the name had to be listed on Sedo since before the year 1993.

I did my own whois check and it currently shows Matt Blaze is the owner, something here doesn't add up.

Also i bet if someone offered $20 Million (believe me there are people out there with that kind and even much higher stupid money to spend) or maybe even $10 Million to Matt he would run as fast as he can to his email to write offer accepted.

Also if he had offers in the $8 Million and the crypto currency trend starts to go down drastically i think it would pass in Matt's mind to email the person with that offer saying "is the offer still available".

@Kingslayer and other members mention crypto currency is unstable and controversial. It might go extremely high or it can go the other way "down" in the future, the stock market was also great until it crashed in the past, a big amount of people lost big amount of cash and the ones that got out before it crashed made a lot of money.

So far he has proved you wrong. I’m certain there have been monster offers for this one.

It must be one of the best domains in existence at the moment

Interesting points made

If as alleged the domain has been owned since 1993 by same person etc the name would have cost nothing to buy back then so it has only cost its renewals for the time it has been owned etc

Just a hunch but I reckon its owner has probably turned down $10m + already

But the market has gone from freezing to hot but it hasn't started to get hot yet

Crypto hasn't stated to get good

I agree with you, but i still think if he get's offers in the $15 to $20 Million range he would seriously would start thinking about selling the domain, this is the serious and credible offers of an obscenely large amount he was talking about IMO...

We've asking $55,600 for Crypto*Living.com at Uniregistry right now. It's $62,500 if you buy it through another marketplace.

I suspect Crypto*Life.com should sell for more than Crypto*Living.com.

I'm not sure Crypto.Life could sell for that much; but, we have seen some higher new gTLD sales recently, so who knows?

When you've dedicated your life to your passion, it's not easy cheap to be convinced that you should exchange your passion for money.

It is indeed possible that the owner will never sell it - according to his background, it seems that he is the "perfect enduser".

send offer to his wife, or his lover! I am sure, matt will think again, otherwise his wife gone! :xf.grin:

it's a Joke!

Surely there are more domains for sale than domain which are not for sale.

Interesting, so would you pay 4 - 6 million USD for it (if you (would) have that money)???

As others have said, some people genuinely can't be bought. Some people do prefer living the quiet life and following their passions. Not everybody cares about having lots of money, as long as they are financially secure and can live a relatively comfortable life, then some people will always choose their passions over money.

Is Matt Blaze one of those people? Possibly.

Good point

Sometimes its just nice having the best domain and not needing to sell

Almost like an expensive digital painting

I buy futuristic tech concept two keyword
.coms

Will i ever be able to turn them in to the mega billion companies a tech entrepreneur could make them in to

No not this century or next lol

But its nice to have good quality dictionary self explanatory keyword .coms on the digital shelf to look at once in a while and never intend to sell

Principles before money
