F.C.C. Repeals Net Neutrality Rules
WASHINGTON — The Federal Communications Commission voted on Thursday to dismantle rules regulating the businesses that connect consumers to the internet, granting broadband companies the power to potentially reshape Americans’ online experiences.

The agency scrapped the so-called net neutrality regulations that prohibited broadband providers from blocking websites or charging for higher-quality service or certain content. The federal government will also no longer regulate high-speed internet delivery as if it were a utility, like phone service.

They have been for sure, but dealing with municipalities forced them to slow down a bit. I have a feeling they will be making a major purchase sometime soon...

I know for sure they acquired a small internet company 2-3 years ago. I just can't remember the name.

I doubt google can afford to make that purchase. They would be bootstrapping it for a while after a buy like that.

youtube would start running slow. lol

I think they could afford it if they really tried but even with that, I don't think the big brother would allow it.

Comcast: $180B total assets
Google: $1809B total assets

If they could afford it im sure big brother would let it go through. Like they did with the Disney/Fox deal

Saw Net Neutrality trending - https://twitter.com/hashtag/NetNeutrality?src=tren&lang=en

"Congress can overrule the FCC using the Congressional Review Act (CRA) and we need just #OneMoreVote to win in the Senate. Contact your representatives and let them know you want"

The fight for #NetNeutrality is not over. Today my colleagues and I introduced a bill to undo the FCC's disastrous repeal of net neutrality. We can overturn the FCC's decision but we need your help.

When you find out the Senate is only one vote away from being able to overrule the FCC and save #NetNeutrality

^ Yeah, I saw that on Twitter...
but its not like Congress is going to pass, and Trump is going to sign, any legislation restoring Net Neutrality.

Ah yeah:

"Still, if Democrats won over a majority in the House, President Trump is not expected to sign such a bill."

The FCC plans to restore Obama-era net neutrality rules

"It may take several months until the rules are back in place, and legal challenges may lie ahead."
