Yesterday, veteran domain name investor and publisher of the popular blog TheDomains, Michael Berkens, shared a tweet about a six-figure offer he received on one of the new gTLD domain names that he owns:

My guess is the domain Michael is referring to would probably cost seven figures if it was a .COM, it’s likely a very premium new gTLD, and to an end user that doesn’t have $1M+ to buy the .COM, in this case the new gTLD was a very viable alternative...

Yesterday, after this news, I changed the BIN prices for some of my domains back to "make offer" until I find out which domain it was. ;)

They may offer even millions without any obligations...
Such trolling is very popular nowadays...

Yep. I received a 100K offer on a gTLD also - at Undeveloped last week. Still waiting on buyer to produce the payment... :)

I had many unpaid cases (their own bids)... from $200 and up to $10K...

I guess, this mentioned range (by Berkens) can be realistic only in Crypto niche...

Why "bitcoin.cash" ??? He doesn't own this domain.

Now, I'm 95% sure it's - Crypto.Money

After selling his portfolio to Godaddy for $35M, he can afford to hold out on offers like this probably just for the fun of it. $100k for aomething he probably has $3,xxx rap, and maybe $750 in renewals, isn’t a bad return.

you sure it’s not guysjerkingoff.com? Lol that is just the tip of the iceberg, he has quite the vivid imagination when it comes to adult names.

In the $100k price range, you can definitely start getting many quality comparables.

Probably is something crypto to go from $20 to $100, but crypto does have lots of deadbeats that tend to disappear on every downturn.

Hard to tell, but given a $100k sale will not affect him greatly, I guess he is going to bluff his hand on this one.

That is my feeling as well. He has some of the best new gTLD names out there, so it can be anything really :) But it might be something with "the" prefix, considering recent sale of the.club...lets see, hopefully we get some more information later.

That guy from Amsterdam who bought Talk.Show from Michael had previously bought a lot new gTLDs.
and later, a year ago he bought Sex.City and talked about what he wanted to create a big dating network.
He also bought a few domains with "the"

It looks like, now, that this guy made a lot of money on the cryptocurrency, as an early adopter, and began to buy expensive domains. This is just like if you won the lottery, you can easily spend this money without thinking about the real cost of things you want to buy. Just because you really like it and you really want to have it, and you have money for this.

There is a more complicated angle towards spending crypto for online assets, it can be easier to exchange for other assets, than cash out at times. Just going, and blowing stupid money on domains, is not a smart investment, and any domainer will admit that.

You buy those one word .com's if you are in the $100K range right, those are liquid assets. If you go spending $100K for names like Talk.Show etc... if you ever need to liquidate, even the guy you sold it to, will barely pay you $5-10K for it.

That is great for us, I welcome this crazy crypto money, it has been a great 3 weeks in the crypto markets for traders, so hopefully more of this is coming down the pipeline.

Berkens must have some kind of signal to turn down $100K, opening offer of $20K is great, a counter of $100K, is ok, let's get this done. Remember some gtld extensions only cost $185K for application fee.

With Berkens if the buyer walks he is not going to lose any sleep at night, as I know he likes his tech stocks, and he probably did really well in 2017, especially with that $35M godaddy warchest.
