advice Are You Being A Jerk Domainer?

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Domaining is a fun business and an industry that continues to attract various types of people. One thing you need to keep in mind is...this is a business like anything else!

I've run across several people who buy/sell domains who are for a lack of a better term, JERKS.

Are you being professional in your domaining business?

See our take on this here.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Just keep your knee-jerk reactions in check..take it easy chewing all that beef-jerky during negotiations and maybe just maybe we can stop jerking each other around and get to the sale.

For the most part though, I really don't run across too many in the industry. I find you get what you give. Politeness is contagious, and if we don't ride our high horse into a deal it opens doors rather than slams them shut before you've even said hello.

There are in my estimation too many beer budget champagne seeking buyers out there though. I've learned to be very polite and patient with all of them. (I used to respond with, "That's a ridiculous offer!") :xf.laugh:

It's a shame, but some can make for the most entertaining of reads. I think a lot of it (the posts) hit-home to when and where we all started out. but weren't so prolific in going public on the bullshit front

if a jerk domainer is someone who has the balls to let you know directly that your domains are pigeon sh*t and/or that you have a domain hoarding problem -- then yes.

I do it objectively to help people not fall in love with crap and waste hundreds or thousands every year.

Hardly any of you are namepros or ever will be. Unless you sharpen your ability to discern over and over again you don't even have a chance.

I disagree Richard, A lot of us have stayed the game, enjoy and profit. Probably here at Namepros because it's one of the few still worth visiting

Those who reply to my "make offer / no bin / no paypal" forsale posts with "Friend! Give me your best price!" bin / paypal probably think I am a jerk. <Evil>

Totally agree, had an established member last month berate me and threaten me in PM accusing me of doing something wrong. I have all screenshots, later he deleted some of his worst statements. We got mods involved, they found I did nothing wrong.

People need to relax.

Above all, remain polite and professional no matter the provocation.

I kind of thought this was part of the appeal to domaining. Being a smug a-hole and asking for the highest monies for 3 word .com
