This thread is to share domains you've Won at Auction or Bought at Closeout

Closeout = After auction but before completely dropping from registrar and before going into redemption.

I *HIGHLY* suggest to post only after the domain is transferred *INTO* your account!

Go here if it's a domain you bought that was available at anytime for "hand registration": Your Reg of the Day
Go here if it's a domain you snapped / "drop-catched" after "Pending Delete": Your Snap of the Day

Feel free to disguise the domain like Slash // dot // com or any o|t|h|e|r w a y you want.
IMPORTANT: *If* someone does disguise their name, please respect them by quoting them directly, or copy/paste them directly.

Things to optionally include (or just simply post the domain name):

  1. What you paid for the domain(s), or the price range, or no price info at all.
  2. Any information, reasons or hard data (traffic, CPC, etc) that lead you to buy the domain(s).
  3. Where (or who) you acquired the domain from.
  4. How many other bidders there were.
  5. Whether the domain was "expired" or not.
  6. Whether the domain was at "closeout" or not.
  7. The history of the domain.
  8. What you see the domain being used for.
  9. Who a potential buyer could be.
  10. Anything else you want to share .. these are just possible ideas not "rules" ;)

Grrrrrrr .. I had that one marked as a big buy .. but I was at work the moment it passed on auction. Unfortunately I have to hate you now! lol .. seriously though .. Very very nice domain! Congrats!

Ha ha! Always a nice confidence booster to hear another domainer wanted the same name.

Yeah, I'm a fan of it for sure. I actually grabbed another similar (but definitely less appealing) one a month earlier on closeout as well:

Look/To/Buy[dot]com

Not as crazy about this one, but it had a familiar enough sound to it (i.e. "I'm looking to buy a truck") that I pulled the trigger. It's short and sweet, and could be a gimmicky, memorable name.

SyntheticMeats // dot // com
Synthetic meats are *THE* future of humanity. Might not seem like it .. but this is likely as big a future tech as self-driving cars .. and I actually prefer the plural here in terms of branding! :)

MojoWallet // dot // com
Crypto crypto crypto!

RedLineMultimedia // dot // com
Red line means full throttle / maximum effort. Great aged brand with this one (15 years)! :)

...Will take the opportunity to complete work with my marketplace... have a bit of programming work to do....and I don't really like programming

Maybe grab an Efty account? I'm still working on my portfolio as well the last little bit .. adding "categories" so I can sort faster and update my lists more efficiently.

I won bitcard.co , but forgot to pay, so I lost it.. lol .. idk how great that domain is, but I can see some potential :)
what do you think?

It's not a terrible domain .. but honestly not strong enough for .co pricing .. I think you should be happy it didn't go through! ;)

Thanks for your feedback! I understand they can be tough to sell, but wanted a few to test. Right now, I'm only looking at .coms. Will be posting two more domains I've bought as soon as they land in my account.

I (and I think every newer domainer) had a really hard time saying no to very good non-.com when I started. I had some amazing .cc .ws .biz and .co .. I dropped most cc/ws (kept maybe 2-3 ultra keywords each) .. dropped about 2/3 of my .biz .. and over 90% of my .co (but to be fair I had a couple hundred with super cheap first year coupons $2-$8 each). I'm not saying don't buy .. but just be extremely picky to get super premium keywords .. and don't buy too many.

Btw, since you were already talking about domains to use for your domaining business; what do you think of NameHike.com? I bought it a few weeks ago, but now I'm having second thoughts. Should I find something better?

Not sure why, but I prefer NameDawn .. I didn't see Name and Hike really going together. It's not bad (better than Net // onics .. lol), but if you're not married to it, then maybe look around for another option. It is unusable though .. just a personal preference on my side .. not the end of the world. I'm about to figure out my own branding in the days ahead!

There was another domain I was bidding on, zentality.com, but I quit bidding when the price reached $60. Later it turned out the final price was well over $200... It's getting harder and harder to get a decent name for a decent price on Godaddy expired domain auctions...

I'm pretty sure I had Zentality on my daily lists not too long ago. So it was good in my mind .. but priced too high to buy (sometimes $12 is too high). It's a good sign when a domain you want goes high in bidding .. it generally means you're noticing the right names! :)

It definitely was a really good domain. For the Look/to/Buy one I'm less feeling it. The one to get is indeed LookingToBuy .. by a long shot. I love call to action domains (I actually grabbed CallToActionDomains // dot // com last year... lol), but the moment you go off a even a bit it really changes quite significantly I feel. Grab/The/Savings is 50x Look/To/Buy in my books! ;)

Yes I agree, synthetic meat is definitely the future. Nice one!

NameDawn isn't mine so that's not an option. :)

But I get your point. It's a stretch. I was thinking of phrases like "price hike", "pay hike, and "tax hike". And as a bonus, I love hiking. :)

I not only like this because it's a very pronouceable 5L with a pattern .. but I think the physical letter combination unnu has the potential to make a really cool slick logo! :)

I just mentioned it as a comparison because NameDawn was discussed just a few posts above yours!

The thing about brandables is that they are totally subjective. for your "Name_.com" name YOU are the end user .. so you have the choice to pick what you want. If the name has extra meaning for you, then that counts. Obviously you need to factor in if you really think the 2 words work together or not .. but while I might not think it's the greatest name .. it certainly isn't the worst I've seen .. by far! :)

Yet another literally awesome media name! :)

eMailTycoon // dot // com
MailTycoon // dot // com
As more and more businesses get online there will be more and more need for email management and newsletters services. Great niche .. I really like this pair of names! :)

SimpleTouch.com
Pharmacore.com

Couple of very nice names there. Where did you get them?

HighRiskFood[dot]com

It has a domain authority of 32, and the plural version "high risk foods" has 4400 monthly searches.

TheElectrician // dot // net
I'm not a fan of .net for the most part unless tech related .. I'm also not a big fan of "The" domains more often than not ... but this obviously Electrician is a huge keyword.

StreamFreeMusic // dot // com
What pretty much everyone wants to do these days!

WebinarSeminar // dot // com
Sooooo much online training these days. It's already a huge industry and still growing. While this isn't my best grab by any means, I got it SUPER cheap .. so I'm still happy. Acquisition price is a huge influence on whether a domain should be in your portfolio or not!

Love this name for East<>West focused advertising / media agency. Tons of cool logo choices as well!

LongestLimo // dot // com
LongestLimos // dot // com
The singular has some nice stats behind it ($4.5 cpc). Alliteration not just sounds cool, but is still somewhat a key term! :)

I really like that one! Would renew it many times, if it was mine.

Esophoria[dot]com

Monthly Searches: 4400
I like the sound of it, even though it's an eye condition. But the .net and the .org is about mysticism.

InvisibleStatus // dot // com
I totally love this one .. great for VPN / Proxy related business. Or any of the countless other privacy based businesses. Plus while this most certainly both a great brandable and a great keyterm .. it's also the actual saying people use.

BetterSEM // dot // com
Pretty self explanatory here .. I'm seeing more and more the term SEM being used in the wild as apposed to just SEO.

CrimsonTrust // dot // com
I love this brand for a financial trust company. While Crimson isn't one of the base colours, it most certainly is considered a strong/powerful one and in this context I prefer it to blue/red/yellow. Very happy about getting this one!

If it's an actual medical term AND both the net and org have end users .. then this is a really solid domain! :)

Just got CitySoups.com as cheap as it could be ($10)... it has a TrustFlow of 20 & ok other stats, so good deal I guess and worth way more than 10 in traffic

Only one made it to my account today:

L // AVOLY // dot // com - it probably falls under the short brandable category I like to buy that @Ategy.com was mentioning a few days ago :)

Nice Geo Media name of a larger US city .. can't go wrong here! :)

SAASAccountant // dot // com
SAAS = Software as a service. This is actually the future of business. Microsoft is even going this route with Windows and Office billing people by year. Obviously not for every field, but I know someone who uses this model for accounting, so really a no brainer here.

HostessMostess // dot // com
Obviously play on the popular term "Hostess With The Mostess" ... I really like this one for almost anything event related or party related. All those RSVP services for example. Or promotional staff at various festivals etc.

GoldPerOunce // dot // com
I like this one not just because it's a big search term. But also because it could be used as a brand for one of those Dollars For Gold type of businesses, where people mail in their gold for cash. Quite a few of them out there.

TOTALDATARECOVERY // dot // COM
Doesn't matter that this one isn't short .. big data is big business .. nice one! :)

FOTO // GASM // dot // com
Pretty sure I've seen this one before .. nice one .. I really don't mind the F .. I think it's actually used in a couple of languages?

Thanks for the feedback @Ategy.com
Yup - the F is used in many Latin origin languages (including my native language).
