The .biz is one of my favoirte extensions but man, its hard to find some endusers. I really do not think anyone is using these extensions any more. You can just tell looking at Namebio https://namebio.com/?s==QTO3cjMzYTM Only people buying them are most likely domain investors and the prices or so low!

.biz extensions. Is it possible in the 2018+ of this industry?

Where is .biz heading?

Is there any future for .biz?

What should I be buying in .biz to keep my ROI up?

Is it possible for .biz to come back? What makes an extension get better?

Thanks!!

no... its dead and getting deader.

there is a reason why yuo see a ton of great single word etc .biz expiring every day.. and almost no one getting those even regfee.

I own a few.. sometimes pickup few regfee.. but I know its a deadend. I just like some keywords.. so i gues rule #1 of domaining never buy domains cause you personalyl love some keywords or extesions.. buy what sells instead! :)

cheers

One of the main problems I have in this industry.

I am curious but what is the most you ever paid for a .biz domain ?
If you had a budget to buy a domain name on the aftermarket wouldn't you try to get a .com ?
When was the last time you visited a .biz domain ? Is there one that you visit on a regular basis ? Would you want one for your business ?
Try to answer those questions and you can draw the conclusions yourself.

When I was a newbie i regged quite a few .biz domains but quickly realized they were very difficult to sell. I did sell one for low $XXX and another for high $XXX but that was when exact match domains ranked with simple content. I held mascota.biz (pet in Spanish) for many years but realized with a thousand new extensions that .biz along with most anything not .com would be practically worthless as low-budget developers and end users have many options without having to pay a premium.

I sold Petroleum.biz few days ago, for $70. It wouldn't get any higher offer. Petrol.biz also sold for $100. To the same buyer actually.

Both are now on the market place ofr $xx,xxx

I was also in contact with an investor who truly had premium .biz(all high value domains), they're trying to sell all & no longer invest in the extension.

The .biz extension is going nowhere, at least i think so.

If .BIZ had been released in 2015 you would have dozens of threads on NP talking about all these great domains members were registering - showcase your best .BIZ domains. .BIZ is great for business. Blah blah. The registry would announce some five figure sales to pump up the registrations. You might have a .BIZ auction at SEDO or Namejet of "premium keywords." But even though .BIZ was released more than fifteen years ago, how often do you see .BIZ domain sales reported on DNJournal? What does that tell you about the likely future of most nTLD portfolios?

Yeah I know what you guys mean... so it just falls under every other ngtld or any tld. Except for .com

Thats too bad, a good generic extension and a great option when a .com os not avail.

As an investor I probably won't buy any but as an end user I sure would consider one if the .com was taken.

If this one goes bust then there is trouble brewing.

The future would be a combination of premium .biz + SSL + blockchain for business .

I have sold quite a few .BIZ over the years, including several in the last couple years.

They are almost all high quality LLL or top quality single word brand types.

Examples I have sold -

MRP
WRS
IAS
BMI
EIG
Pam
CBD
Aps
BAC
ADC
Loco
Sage
Jacob
Edible
Apollo
Lessons
Crystal
Edwards
Getaway
Spectrum
Printers
Impressions

I have sold over $40K in .BIZ in total.

If you have the resources and time to sell a .biz domain, buy it. Or move to a .com instead.

today, 3L .biz are dropping and expired too .. people do not renew... and similar and/or better keyword types/qualities like you listed in your sales are also expiring... impressions.. crystal .. lessons.. loco...edible.. etc.. they are dropping in big numbers daily.. can be had for regfee..

but.. you stil find buyer for anything... if your stars align right.. its just that for biz.. you are working with way fewer stars. cheers.

.biz, .xxx and .info tells us the nGTLDs are mostly hype.

i have seen a .biz in the wild recently, not sure if there are others. if it were a new G it would probably big news, I have seen .info too recently, they do exist but that does not mean much.

the truth is if .biz were to come out today it would probably be viewed as one of the hottest strings, (generic, 3L, easy to remember) but because it is 15 years old even nGTLD investors feel it sucks.

I would say that objectively it is better than at least 90% of the new Gs.

I would take a .biz over a .co anytime if I needed a domain.
I don't like that .co is a country code whereas .biz in universal.

Seriously I don't get at all why any business in a different country would use the country code of another country regardless of the fact that it is open for general use.

I don't like the idea of my business being attached to a .co (columbia). I would be more relaxed with a .biz

io = British Indian Ocean Territory
Same thing there not for me

.anything
Hmm, too confusing for my customers

So seriously, tell me again why .biz is not moving up (n)
I don't get it, that extension should be on fire.

there is really no extension that is one fire except .com. It has nothing to do with .biz which is an OK extension. There is not much space in the domain market, either you have a .com and maybe there are a few alternative and trendy extensions thats a startup uses when they do not get a .com, no idea how these trends develop and why. for a while .me was popular.

I think what the market looks for as an alternative is as short as possible and sounding trendy.
.pro, .io, .me, .co, .ai

the domain market is so small that only very few if any extensions can be on fire.

.ca
.co.uk
.ru
.ch

Definitely on fire but those are not nGTLD's

ccTLD's are on fire
I did not hesitate using one for my business when the .com was in use

So yes .com are on fire but on a smaller scale so are ccTLD's

Still like comparing a volcano to a pimple pop though :xf.laugh::xf.laugh::xf.laugh::xf.laugh::xf.laugh:

nobody really sees .co as country domain ... except columbians maybe... its just a shorter sweeter version of .com .. that looks and sounds fabulous... companies love it.. most domainers too.. and in terms of sales and popularity it leaves .biz millenia behind .. there isn't even a comparaison ;)

which is why there are tons of .biz available to reg.. and most of those in co are long gone and renewed each year.. despite the high fees. that says a lot right there.

if you want more sales, do yourself favor and ALWAYS pick co instead of .biz.. if you must pick between the two........ co is hooooooooooooooot.

Until something happens in Columbia that causes a moment of some kind #BoycottColumbia. All the political correctness around now could still have an impact. I understand your point alcy but people that understand domains will always know it stands for columbia.

Besides.... would you stake an international companies website address on the whim of columbians?
What if the US declares war and columbia decides it wants its .co addresses back?

Far fetched I know but I would think about all the pros and cons before using it for my company.

nope.. most companies do not care.. and neither do domainers. co sells. its really that simple.

you don't have to take my word for it.. just check namebio for biz and co sales..

or other domainers sales.. check completed sale section here.. to see biz vs co.. do the research and you will know what sells. nobody really cares how columbia is doing. .co just looks amazing for a domain.

and of course as ultimate proof whcih always solves all confusion... run the test yourself with your own domains... get some .biz and some .co and see what sells more for you. even with dramatically superior keywords now available to reg in .biz versus what you can reg for .co.. you will still get more interest in your lower quality keyword .co domains.

co being 2 first letters of com defiitely helps that too.

we do not want to turn this into a .co discussion... so I'll just end this by saying.. do yourself a huge favor and if you're faced with choice between biz and co.. always pick co. you've increased your sale chances by 1000, right there! cheers.

Its still on topic because I am comparing a .co to a .biz so I think we are good there (y)

I cannot disagree with you, the facts speak for themselves.

But...

.com = company and .biz = business

Soooooo much in common there - sad it is not more successful :xf.frown:
