I see many domains listed on here for one dollar, two dollars, or three dollars yet no bids. Some of them even have as much as 1 year until expiry and are even .com yet no one is buying them. Is $3 or less a lot of money to you people? If, so do you see a lot of domains not worth $1 to you on NP?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
If you don't think you can sell it for more than you have paid for it and you're not planning on using or developing it, then it has no value ($0) to a domain investor!

Domains selling for less than 15 $ are not worth anything . owners try to get any money instead of dropping them

But you can get a bargain sometimes from names selling between 15 - 100$

Years ago I saw someone selling 50 NNNNN.com for 10$ each
I picked only two and sold them later for x,xxx$

So you never know what can happen but as general rule , 3$ names are 0$ names

I have purchased almost 15 domains from namepros at $1 and latter sold them for xxx within 1-2 months via outbound so personally I have had great roi...

If you are not prepared to keep and renew then... they may not be worth $1. Holding names is expensive.

This too.

I ask myself would I pay $100, and can I flip it for at least low $x,xxx? Otherwise no. It costs $20+ in wasted time to receive a domain into my account if everything went smoothly, so the seller would need to pay me at least $17 to receive their $3 domain.

Sometimes to make things moving and not to be stagnant, deal/transaction is good.

When I go to register a domain I ask myself would an end user business pay at least xxxx for it. If the answer is no I try not to register it.

If a domainer is selling a domain cheap and I think the answer to my above question is yes I'll buy.

Different business models in domaining. Some are happy with continuous flips $8 into xx-xxx where I'm more of less sales at higher margins $8 into x,xxx-xx,xxx.

Me too. Everyone has their own business model. Mine is simple. Only acquire domains that I can sell for a decent profit. I see some domains with prices that seem too high, but I also see many domains priced way too low. I see people bid up when the bin is x,xxx. Maybe some kind of psychology. :)

Since the renewal/holding cost is the same for premium and "decent" domain. My theory is if steak and ramen noodles costs the same which one would you prefer? Unless you're a veagn.

Money has nothing to do with it, its also about time spent. I never participate in anything where I can get 100 domains for $100

I would rather buy the one I want for the $100 and let the rest sit. I cannot imagine spending hours transferring over 99 useless names regardless of the fact that they are $1 each.

Time is money and I don't care what you offer the domain for, if it's of no interest to me I move on.
A bargain is only a bargain if I can put it to use.

Many worthwhile viewpoints have already been expressed. I think in many cases the names for sale have been specialized niche domains, and unless you see yourself as the person who could market that domain, then they would simply be a drain on your time with little chance of reward. That being said, there have been excellent bargains, and some have been turned into $$$ sales, as several have mentioned in their success stories. Really their lack of sale is further evidence of a truth many of us may be hesitant to accept - the majority of domain names registered don't sell, even at bargain prices.

If I like a name I'll buy it, even if it is dirt cheap :xf.smile:

If a domain is $3 and does't sell then it probably isn't decent. If no domainers like it then it is probably isn't going to be anyones first choice. Decent is something you can sell for multiple times your buy price. If you have no outlay then you have no investment.
