Hello Everyone,

I would like to start my research right here on NP. Is it legal / allowed / ethical to scrape a certain data from YelloPages, Yelp, Google or other sites? I am working on a directory website, targeting certain area and it would take months to add all the businesses into the database one by one. If that's something I could legally do, any suggestion for a scraping software or methods? I am using ListingPro pre-build theme. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks

Tomas

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Maybe some of the data may be purchased through legal channels ? It means easier integration too. Even scraping is going to take time. Curating the data too.

Look at the site's TOS/usage policies. Some data can be under free information laws (depending on the country etc).

I have found some tools and sites online, as import .io for data scraping, also there is a group of developers in India offering up to 25k of data for $249 per site scraped, but need to make sure the TOS of each site will allow to do so. I just made a request on Fiverr, I believe these guys know what they are doing and where they are allowed to do so. Thanks for replies.
