This is what caught my attention:
It’s important to note that some sites affected by this change may also contain Google ads. To us, your experience on the web is a higher priority than the money that these annoying ads may generate—even for us.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
because I am computer illiterate I guess when it comes to setting up my own ads :)

Do you have any adult names parked? If so, what kind of revenue do you get? Just ball park. I have some really strong backlinked sites too some pay $0.01 a day. Lol.
I have been frustrated with mine on the other adult monetize thread.

So Google, themselves a server of advertisements, will be deciding which ads will be seen in their own browser, which just so happens to be the most popular browser in the world?

Google decides what is abuse and that is no different from any other security aspect of the browser. Any security issue or annoyance that would diminish the experience of the end user needs to be addresed.

I very much doubt google will abuse this power because they are keenly aware they have one kick at the can to get ad blocking right. If they start to block legitimate non abusive ads from legitimate websites then the media will just kill them and firefox or edge will be the end beneficiary.

I'm a google fan boy and have all things google but I'll be the first to split if they screw it up. I have read through what they are blocking and I am in full agreement with those elements but if they abuse their power they will lose me to Firefox in a milli second. I already use Firefox as my backup browser and the switch is only a keyclick away.

Google ads are a breeze to set up with full tutorials and a landing page can easily be made via a ton of freeware on the web.

Do Google allow LPs without content?

What do you mean without content?
What is the point of a landing page if you dont advertise your domains?

Google ad income comes second to actually selling a domain.
The ads can be put toward renewals but don't expect to get rich from them. :xf.smile:

On mobile devices this is good news for surfer, but bad news for us..

It's was either they popularise their own blocker to control the whitelist, or the others domainate and block everything. I generally don't trust Google and their software, way too intrusive, so for the desktop I have Firefox with uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger. For mobile I consider Apple the lesser evil, and use an ad and tracker blocking app plugin like Purify. Generally I'd like to see all ad supported content die off. That's why I could never bring myself to park my domains and subject others to advertising.

they do allow since your LP were self hosted and you are the one who paid for the hosting services, but Google might not allow your account to be survived LOL

Has anyone noticed any adblocking today on your Chrome?

On my 64.0.3282.167 Chrome, I noticed that every ad is working normally.. even those terrible ZeroClick ads.

Moreover, I searched for any new setting related to adblocking but found none.

how do you check if zero click ads work? I don't wanna go there cause maybe they think I view my own ads :)

When your browser has it it will be in

Site Content Settings - for Desktop
Site Settings - for Mobile

Under Block pop-ups it will say
Ads - blocked for some sites

I use the Canary version of chrome for testing and its active there but nowhere else yet.
Even my Beta Version does not have it as of today.

Hope that helps

just visiting once won't cause any issues

@MapleDots
my Chrome got updated a few hours ago and, considering that a lot of sites mentioned the adblock was in, I assumed it was.

I'm not a Chrome user so I have no idea how I can get access to the 'site content settings' . I don't see that option on the 'Settings' menu.

Content Settings is under advanced in the privacy and security section

I run chrome beta on desktop and have version 65.0.3325 and it just updated but does not have the ad block section yet.

I think it may be rolling out in stages

My Canary Chrome (Developer Version) on Mobile has had it for quite a while.

It will be listed right under that if you have it

Well, I haven't seen it go live in Chrome yet. But it has been live in Canary for a while. Our domains work fine at Voodoo.com.

I'm not sure if a landing page advertising a domain would count as content in Google's eyes.

Obviously not.
Content means a minimum amount of words (300) + external links + images and so on.
Landing page IS NOT content.

I don't think I will be using chrome anyway..too many eyes spying but anyway.

@alcy you parked page lyz co is gone with my FF set up ( much easier and less advanced ) so I would say that parking is going to die more and more

Yup, I agree, it's a slow death for parking but the end is inevitable.

can you try to surf on Forbes.com and tell us what do you see with your setup?

i hope parking companies will adopt something similar...
if you have adblock you don't see the website unless you disable it... so people will try to disable it and they will see ads... or maybe they will just go away because they are scared.

anyway many website are able to stay online thanks so ads.. if they stop to earn from ads they will shut down so surely some reaction will be taken, imho
