The Official .ws thread

.WS can stand for WEBSITE.

It has pros and cons as a domain. This thread is for people who wish to suggest ideas to build up and help promote the .ws domain as well as to give and receive help and advice on .ws domains in general. Some useful info contributed through this thread below. Views and comments anyone...

http://website.ws/faq/index.dhtml

The registry is now allowing .WS domain names to be transferred from registrar to registrar. It seems that most registrars just haven't updated their websites to allow this yet.

This is good news for the .ws market as this was a major factor in holding .ws back. Time for .ws to take off? Can we publicize this to help boost the market?

So why buy .ws?
1. Excellent keywords can still be regged.
2. You can buy premium keywords for $20-$50.
3. Excellent development potential, luckily goog doesn’t really care about which extension the site is on but how much content s there and how often it is updated.
4. Godaddy markets .ws - little but its a big brand
5. The β€˜website’ christening seems to have more and more acceptance.
6. Its easy to get traffic and thus revenue for better keywords in .ws than a β€˜bad’ keyword in .com

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
A while ago I contacted a bunch of .ws owners to see what price they where asking. I was shocked at how much they wanted for the names, $2K+ in many instances. The .ws market is like dead, not sure if it will ever return.

I few I own...

Moms.ws
Printers.ws
House.ws
Vids.ws
Motorcycles.ws
Font.ws
Joke.ws
Review.ws

geneva
buddhism
acapulco
milan
printablecoupons

Probably won't get any more unless its a very premium word like poker, casino, dating etc and if I can get it at a good price.

I have record.ws

exact search count : 3350000
ready to sell for right price.
Any body intersted?

Scope is endless. Could be a nice record selling site or could be a public record affilate site.

Also it could be a site for all different kinds of records eg. olympic records, football records, baseball records, baseketball records etc.

@Haris - I dropped out of a expiring domain auction at Dynadot today at just under $1k. And I think the final winning price was just under $1k too. Domain was TB.WS which I thought was worth it. The auctions of xx.WS domains at NameJet recently which were renewed until 2026 all went for over $1K, if my memory serves me correctly. I forget how many exactly. Maybe about 12 domains, or the exactly prices. But most went for between $1-2K. Everything I bid on my bid circa $1k, but I never won any of them. They were pretty good alphabetical combos too. I'm not sure they all sold because the reserves might have prevented a sale on some of them. Hope that helps.

I did capture SALES.WS and GIRLS.WS in this NameJet sale, renewed until 2026 for approx $50 each. Which I think was quite a catch compared to some of the prices these short domains sold for. Now I've got to figure out what to do with them :( Renewals are at $24.99/year. Sorry if my memory wasn't so good about the prices or the domain names, all those auctions went for. Maybe NameBio could be your friend. I think the auction ended only about a month ago.

Quite a nice selection of domains, if they weren't in the .WS TLD :)
