I just read that Rick Schwartz, has again hand registered a new batch of domains...Let's take a look. :)

If you are not familiar with Part 1, here's a link:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/rick-schwartz-hand-reg-domain-list.1060954/

Thanks to Domain Gang for sharing this.

Here’s a list of fresh domain registrations by the Domain King:

obamatexts.com
potustext.com
potustexts.com

trumpsfakenewsaward.com
wechooseboth.com
yamakaking.com
yarmulkaking.com
yarmulkeking.com

An interesting batch of domain registrations, for sure!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
So here's one question I would have...

One of the domains Mr Schwartz regged is AmericansAreDreamersToo. It caught my eye because I recently acquired a similar name.

I haven't checked any others, but out of curiousity and wanting to learn more, I looked at the name in multiple extensions and based on the time and date of registration, he also regged the name in .net, .club, and .info.

He didn't take the .org, and someone else got it 5 days later.

I usually feel pretty good when I have the .com. So why take all those?

Not to mention that if I'm right....he doesn't mind new gTLDs either.

Isn't it RS who said that every second you are minding somebody else's business you are ignoring yours ? :xf.wink:

His bank account.
Because he started during the gold rush of domaining. It's like people who made tons of money during the 90's .com rush.

For this he can come to namepros regularly and purchase lot of better domains at better pricing.

Not only is he political he 😍 Trump.
Trump knows how to make money and headlines. Why not jump on his free marketing bandwagon. Everything he does is big news and everyone starts tweeting and googling his sh$t. I'm sure who ever has letsmakeamericagreatagain.com is getting plenty of traffic.

How politically correct of you to say so! ;) lol

It's likely a numbers game ...

He pays $10 a name
He buys 1000
ONE becomes a pop-culture term just long enough for someone to grab the term ..
Pays $20k
He just doubled his money ...

With the big plus being .. that he likely actually gets traffic on some of those .. so likely some money there as well.

Then he just drops whatever doesn't work a year later.

Certainly can't work for everyone .. you need to be good enough to be 1/1000 on long-shot names .. which sounds super easy .. but some newcomers aren't even 1/1000 in what they consider to be sureshot names.

So from the outside it might seems like questionable tactics .. but I'm willing to bet that he more up than down using this strategy. But again .. only because he's "not good" at picking names that pay off (1/1000 definitely isn't good .. lol) .. but "not good" is significantly better than the absolutely "horrible" (1/10,000) most other people would likely do.

I can't believe I just defended getting bad domain names! lol .. I guess only a king could make that work! ;)

100% Agree, all it takes is one sale and you're in the black, anything else you sell outta that batch of 1000 names is a bonus and im willing to wager he'll sell more than just one. Political domains are a different beast than normal ones, they dont need a constant flow of traffic or long term feasibility, many are registered for the sole purpose of flashing across a tv screen during a debate or just to score a few points at the expense of your rivals. They dont have a shelf life of more than 2-3 months, within which they serve their purpose. Most political domians are purchased with other peoples money so chances of impulse buys are quite high too, without giving much thought to price tag or the quality of the name. All one has to do is be at the right place at the right time and something tells me Mr. Schwartz has got that covered.

Regging good names is very hard now days imo. Especially with huge domains buying up most of the market. Even the domain king is struggling with regs lol

I think is mostly just fun and games for him. He watches TV and regs new terminology etc. that he hears and sees. If some term sticks and gets widely used, the traffic pays the bills. I think he one time discussed on DomainSherpa about a friend of his doing exactly that.

He is just doing this to create threads such as this.

We choose both:
We choose is popular phrase only in this case ending with both

It is clear to me that he is very interested in politics.
I think you may be confusing his interest in politics,
with the will to make a buck from others who have a interest in politics.
It's clear to me anyway.
None of them seem great but I can see a potential ROI on some.
Tom Edison once said.. 'great opportunities are lost by not taking advantage of small ones'
We are domainer's... that's how it's done.

He knows doing this is self fulfilling.

When I buy some fun domains for me self. It is <crickets>

When he buys some, it is news. Other people buy similar and "hey! this domain name is taken in multiple extensions!"

Must be nice! 😂

And also what Kate said!

Fact is, I frequently register domains that I know are realistically only worth 100-300 bucks. To me it's still profit and who knows, maybe I'll get lucky.

For me, until recently, it wasn't worth it to do a domain sale of less than 200 bucks. (Sedo 60, escrow 25 etc). Now escrow and payoneer start at 10 (THANK YOU Payoneer for bringing the competition!) and there is namesilo marketplace and new low cost crypto escrow like DNxEth.com

Paypal is a no go for me but I know others seem to be happy using it. <Shrugs>

What is the lowest price these big name whales can sell domains for before we the peanut gallery start speculating they must be hard up for cash? $500?

I also forgot to say earlier that when the Rick buys these hand regs it is like a paltry advertising expense with potential upside / cost recovery.

Not like Americans. The only thing we dream about is a short winter and the occasional Stanley Cup. ;)

The only thing I dream about is Trudeau
Didn't he buy sh*tcoin ?

He bought PigeonShitDomains.com and I own PigeonShitNames.com :xf.smile:

PigeionShitNames.com points to an interesting topic on NamePros :xf.wink:

Some of his domains can now be classified it that category

Sorry but it appears my previous post was a bit cut off by the quotes.

It should have read....

The only thing I dream about is Trudeau (our idiot prime minister) shutting his pie hole for a while and stop embarrassing our country. Less posing/talking and actually get busy running a country.

Glad you clarified aboot Trudeau - the truncated bit seemed quite...um...romatic! And that's not actually how you feel. :)
