@Keith DeBoer how are you!

Could you tell me .. what is the situation with the BB affiliate program? I need to join this very quickly myself.

Hi Domainer 111,
There is no BB affiliate program
It was discontinued a few years ago

>> Yes and No. An affiliate but not in the affiliate programme.

This is nuts!

Sounds like a J. Geils song -

You love her,
But she loves him,
And he loves somebody else,
You just can't win!

All this double talk leads me to one conclusion - if you roll with dogs, you're gonna get fleas!!

Either you like BrandBucket or you don't. It's all a matter of preference and choice.

Along the way you will run into some interesting characters. Some interesting, some not.

Along the way you will you will build an inventory. Some will sell, some not.

This whole debate is like pissing in the wind, then complaining your feet are wet.

It looks like all the names I removed in the past have been reinstated at BrandBucket, making them indexable in Google so that BrandBucket can use them to potentially grab my leads for their own inventory.

As you noted we paid a $10 fee to list domains with BrandBucket, and then removed names as per their own terms and conditions. I did not agree to BrandBucket retaining a landing page with an inquiry contact form for those names (so I'd say BB and DNBolt are equally trying to illegitimately take contact info and capture leads for domains they have no right to sell). Because BrandBucket is a paid service, for them to create such a "removal penalty" where they use your removed domains to generate leads for themselves, possibly at the expense of your lead going with a BB name instead of your removed name, is not appropriate.

I have also sold many of the domains I removed from BB to end users (after they were removed from BB). I don't think those end users will appreciate seeing their new business names appear on BrandBucket landing pages, and have to compete with BB landing pages when people search for their business. BB do not retain landing pages for domains they sold themselves as they know this would irritate buyers, but they have no issue annoying our buyers that bought BB removed names from us outside of BB. I think this is an unprofessional move by BrandBucket.

Thanks for that post had no idea, they were doing that. The battle between the Pro BB camp and Anti BB camp is not going away anytime soon.

This:

As someone else pointed out, this isn't for sold names specifically. I came across it while doing a Google search for one of my names, which coincidentally had been previously listed on BB. I think some digging in their T&Cs might be needed here, as they are using my inventory to promote their site. My guess is this was never mentioned in their T&Cs, and it will be interesting to see if they remove this pages on request (as they should do IMO).

Good points

Sent an email requesting they remove references to my previously listed domains. Will update thread when I hear back from Brandbucket.

Well, it seems I have to apologize to Margot. She did in fact send me a Christmas card. It just arived today.

Apparently, the postal service had difficulty distinguishing between Denmark and Myanmar :joyful:

So this is what $100,000 worth of commissions gets? That 30% adds up fast. I hope they at least added a starbucks gift card. 😀

Maybe the envelope will become a collector's item and worth a lot :)

7 days later and, apart from Julia (who was always exceptional) acknowledging the request on the same day, I've just had silence. Sent a follow-up request 2 days ago. Still waiting.

It seems like their publishing times are long once again. Anyone else experiencing this?

Sure, I have several names in pending editorial since Feb 9th.

Hey @Embrand and @Andish!
I asked BB about this and it seems there have been some personal emergencies with two BB staff members who are integral to the publishing process. Hence the delay. Thanking you in advance for your patience till things get back on track :)

I have had good luck with BB. I have 600 domains listed and have sold five so far. I would recommend using them to promote your domains.

The $10 one-time fee is acceptable, but the 30% commission is steep. I have learned over the years that providing domain buyers with a safe, simple and reputable marketplace is sometimes invaluable.

I don't have my high-value domains on BB since the commission is so high.

terravi.com $1,410
eviex.com - $1,295
nexem.com - $1,910
qivos.com - $2,585
qraph.com - $1,325

Congratulations @BriteBrand on your sales. You have a very large portfolio.
I suggest you edit the sold names in your thread so they do not show in google search results. Like n/e/x/e/m . Buyers might get angry at revealing the purchase price.

What was their response regarding this?
Here it is:
Thank you for your patience. We realized that showing a 404 for removed and sold names was not good web practice, as it was creating thousands of errors. Similar to how ecommerce sites such as eBay and Amazon don’t show a 404 page for a removed product, we have decided to keep a landing page for all removed names in order to avoid broken links, confused customers, and breaks in communication with our partner programs.

After discussing this with our team, we have changed how these pages display—there is no longer a reference to the name being for sale in the page title, description or content. The logo is removed, and so is the inquiry form and sales “footer” with contact information. The intent is to give any visitor (although there are not very many right now) a clear indication that we are no longer the authority for the name and cannot sell it to them.

Please understand that we are not linking to these pages from anywhere on our site, and purely exist in search engines’ indexes. The page will also has a noindex meta tag, so when the crawlers check on these old links (which can take up to 6 months) they will eventually fall off. Keep in mind that the only visitors would be ones who typed in the specific term to a search engine, and our link that now says nothing about the name being for sale will be side-by-side with other links that claim it is for sale. The natural choice for the user will be the other links, which means our link authority will decrease over time.

We do thank you for your feedback and should we decide to make any further changes, we will make sure to let you know.
Of course full of contradictory lies - thousands of errors but not linked internally.

I'm going to look into DCMA requests. If Google gets enough of these about their site I imagine it might start to affect their ranking.

Brandbucket was FAST as compared to Brandpa when it came to approving my domains. Now lets see who lists the domain for sale first.

I sold one at the end of last month, last sale was September '17. Dashboard says I am ranked 77% in sales compared to other BB sellers.

Can anyone give me the typical amount of time between escrow starting (doing the account change to BB's Godaddy account) and receiving payment?

I've seen a decline in clicks. I judge by clicks. No sales just clicks. That's why I started smoking. :banghead:
