Welcome Back @enlytend

I'm sorry to see your first post back in a while is a totally slanted fake news article.
Did you even read how this wonderful article even came to it's conclusion? I'm hoping you didn't.
Let me help you out.

The research involved monitoring a core group of around 13,500 politically-active US Twitter users, and a separate group of 48,000 public Facebook pages, to find the external websites that they were sharing.

Users who shared similar collections of links were grouped together depending on what they were discussing: on Twitter, some identified cohorts included “Conservative Media”, “Trump Supporters” (a distinct group from “Republican Party”) and “Resistance”; on Facebook, those audience groups included “Hard Conservative”, “Women’s Rights” and “Military/Guns”.

So let's see, they grouped and monitored: Conservative Media, Trump Supporters, Republican Party, Hard Conservative, Women's Rights, Military and Guns.

And the counter point would be what? Resistance?

Really?

Where's the data on: Liberal Media, Hillary Supporters, Democratic Party, Hard Liberal, Abortion Rights, etc.

This is the epitome' of FAKE NEWS!

Maybe you should take a couple more weeks off from this thread!

I agree you won't find support for a "show of might" parade. Every enlisted person hearing this s rolling their eyes, thinking what a waste of time and energy it would be.

Big 4th of July party thanking vet's and enlisted for their service I could get behind.

** also doubtful regarding accuracy of the source

I don't think he cares what they think. It will be a show of might, he's going to want it bigger and better than North Korea's. He's inspired by the show France gave on Bastille Day. I went to check what some of the people I grew up with thought on FB. Army brats or those serving now. Not happy. Seeing Monkey See, Monkey Do comments/North Korea. Military being used as props. Money wasted. Money can be spent in other areas, for troops etc.

Reading around other military forums - https://www.google.com/search?q=military+parade+forum&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1

"Organises mass rallies where he spews populist slogans and threats.
Rails against the free press
Stokes his core support with false allegations against his opponents
Inflates and exaggerates everything, when he isn't simply lying.
Hates liberal established democracies but praises and aligns with despots and populist hard men types.
Wants less scrutiny and regulation of everything, most especially his own affairs.

And now he wants a military parade in his honour

And yet his supporters mock people who say he is an evolving authoritarian demagogue"

This is not good, we'll see if this actually happens. Probably getting a lot of negative response to this, so he might fall back. You never know with him.

He wants to see all these soldiers march in front of him, tanks rolling down the street to give him this feeling of power. Just way too weak for my taste.

When you wish NP had an LOL button to push!

So funny @mr-x !!

The next logical question is: If the predictions are all wrong, why are we giving so much money and attention to people promoting bad science?

Why not just take small practical steps to improve our environment instead of giving hundred of millions to obvious frauds like Al Gore.

Focus on recycle technology, optimizing renewable energy, clean water supply, cleaning the ocean, etc..

It seems global warming scare is an expensive political power grab. Media and politicians have been attributing every natural and unnatural disaster / political upheaval to global warming for nearly 15 years?

A distributed power system based on solar, wind and chemical reaction could replace our massive power-grid with substantial savings.

We don't even need solar panels to make electricity, just a difference in temperature and movement.

Would reduce industrial energy production and be more resilient for natural disasters.

The Guardian probably paid for someone on Fiverr not only to write that they found but also to do the research too. This $5. article provides no supporting data to backup which articles, websites or media used to conduct the research either. It generalizes and concludes based on nothing of substance. I am really disappointed in the circus this “News” or “studies” have become. Remember the toothpaste commercial “97.5% of Dr.’s recommend....” that gaebage. This type of article is like some National Inquirer standard, the could have written about Alien landings and abductions and the readers would have lapped it up.

Banning plastic containers for one time use would be a start. But Big oil and packaging company lobbyists would kill that before it hit the house floor.

Here's the link (in the article) to the original study. The demographic segments you mention were identified and included in the study. All you had to do was click a link to see that. Maybe read things before you jump to conclusions.

FFS do you even read?

Tip: Those blue letters with underlines are "links", you click them and they take you to pages with more details... like the original study. Oh - but youre the one who thinks all universities are brainwashing scams so never mind...

Yup. Threads still a waste of my time. Just checking.

Universities like Berkeley are brainwashing, and so are most academic people looking for a no responsibilty, no risk jobs, with guaranteed cradle to grave care are liberals who are otherwise unemployable other than in Gov’t. They open up coffee shops, not manufacturing companies if ever arrivong in private sector. Ever heard the saying those who can do, do. Those who can’t... teach? The entire education system is slanted.

Bias data sources cited at bottom of article.

No balance I see, please point out which Liberal website I missed on the list.

Part time Fiverr authors from Oxford.
Generalized everything with no specific references on the twitter and FB, no wonder you believe what you do if this is who publishes it.

So you use your moderator privilege to remove your original post to the fake news, then put up another ridiculous posts that show the groups contained one group containing the word Hilary, which was spelled wrong btw, and 10 Trump groups. Seems like a very well balanced and scientific poll.
Well played @enlytend

You mean like this:

Enlytend: Read this "fake news" report about how conservatives spread more fake news.
Kate: I hate America
EPromote: Everybody that disagrees with me is an idiot
JB: Do you believe in dinosaurs?

Good grief!

My daughter goes to college in D.C., the day after the election, one female professor said to the class while sobbing, "I know how upset you all must be about the election, as I am too, so we are just going to cancel classes for the day, and we'll meet back here on Friday" and another one broke down crying and went on a anti-Trump rant. My daughter was like WTF?

This was a very interesting experiment.
I posted a link with NO commentary.

Replies included personal attacks, incorrect assumptions about the groups examined in the study, unfounded speculation about the source, and irrelevant attacks on the source, without even having critically read study in question (linked from the first line of the article.)

That's an emotional reaction, not a rational one. No judgement intended in that statement, emotions aren't something to be ashamed of, just be aware of where your own reactions are coming from. Emotional responses can be elicited by choice of language - marketing 101. In this case, the title of the article was the most likely catalyst, producing a positive reaction in those predisposed to agree, and apparently a pretty extreme reaction in at least some of those who are not!

Mr X had a good, rational response, and yes, there is fake news that is targeting and spread by progressive and resistance demographics as well. The scope of the study was not all-encompassing, so of course those limitations should be taken into account by readers of any political persuasion.

Cheers - back to work.

Great assessment. The name calling here really needs to stop- it takes all the fun from it.

Imagine that scenario repeated across the entire country? That's a job. You are there to teach, it's as if her situation was serious and something like her husband just died in a car accident and she needed to grieve. Not to whine and cry, and espouse your political agenda- but it happens, it happened to me as wrote way earlier in this thread in a history class in the 70's. Looking back, I should have left.

Hi @Braden Pollock

Welcome to the NP Political Thread, also known as the hornets nest!

Congratulations on your Big Brother of the Year Award!

For clarification: Aren't you married to Lisa Bloom?
Thank you. The gala is tonight and I've got my acceptance speech all set :).
Yes, Lisa is my wife.

I went over why I asked that. Usually the people that don't believe they existed, tend to be Republicans/religious types, wanted to see how far you were gone. At least you know they existed. But then there is gullibility. When I was reading the Bikini Tara thread yesterday, there you were saying how this person was real. So you got fooled by a basic, male, internet marketer telling wild stories, using fake bikini pics. You got fooled by a bikini pic.

Reading some of the new posts today, more of the same. Anti-university, anti-education type posts.

People posting up videos from Prager U, using 2 so called scientists, both bought and paid for by fossil fuel companies. At least they were smart enough to get paid, the fossil fuel companies have you guys working for free posting nonsense.

I even linked to an article on the tactics used by the tobacco industry, one of the things talking about how it's the same tactics used by the fossil fuel companies and here you guys are eating it up.

A distributed power system based on solar, wind and chemical reaction could replace our massive power-grid with substantial savings.

And who is President? Mr. beautiful, clean, coal.

Good think you're a progressive or people might think you're just another bigoted know-it-all.

I'm just not gullible. Again, a guy using the satire site The Onion. It doesn't take a know it all to figure that one out. And then here you are, posting up Fossil Fuel company talking points. If in some way this makes you check your sources next time, read a little more, then some good has come out of it.
