Hi guys,

I just started with domain trading so at the moment i dont know much about anything from this subject. Could you guys help me out a bit?

Would be great if you would give me your take on the following topics:
- Are there any tools/websites/software that you guys would recommend me to start with?
- com vs. cm domains. Are cm domains worth buying for speculative reasons?
- What are the best resources to start domain trading with?

Thank you all for the effort.

Regards,
hugofisch1

Welcome! I started domaining last year and I use these websites daily:

Namebio.com - Daily Domain Sales
DNJournal.com - Domain Sales/News
DNpric.es - Domain Prices
Whois.ICANN.org - Domain Ownership
Efty.com - Portfolio MGMT
uspto.gov - (trademark lookup for the US)

Tips:

Read the forum
Research the market
Figure out your end-game
Learn the rules of every marketplace/platform
Don't base your names/approach off automated appraisals
Always double check the spelling of domains before purchase (made a few mistakes/gained a few useless names by not doing this)
Be Patient

Watch out for Trademarks!!

Every resource you need is on this forum.

Good luck!

I had a .cm once a few years back. I had real trouble even getting it to rank when developed. I would avoid that extension. I had more joy with a worse replacement .com.

I think only Kevin Ham has been successful from .cm domain names.

.com is king for sure.

Welcome mate..

expireddomains.net is a great tool.

.COM is like the English Premier League. .CM is like an under 5's team.

NamePro's has everything you need - just read and learn.......and turn off auto renew :)

Welcome to domain investing and NPs, @hugofisch1 !

A search at Namebio reveals relatively few recent .cm sales (it seems more in the past) - you can search on any TLD and then click on date or price to order that way.
https://namebio.com/

There are certainly more sales of .co, including this year, but nowhere near as many as .com of course (although the number of registered .com and .com for sale also orders of magnitude larger).

It is interesting that the last sale of a .cm was wix for $5000 and routes to the main Wix site - protective I guess, or maybe new plans?

@WillW has offered some superb advice re what tools to use. I would add the site
https://tld-list.com/
That allows you to find the registrar with the best deals for registration, transfer and renewal for any TLD. It is a one stop place to get information updated every few hours. Keeping costs down is one of the secrets of early domain investing success.

.com is the king.

Stick to .com only.
