Hi Dan.
Most of what I'm going to say here has already been mentioned, but since I am the Master of the Obvious I'll repeat some of it.
It seems to me that some very experienced domainers in this thread have tried to give you very good advice but you have a comeback against what they are saying.
There are only two kinds of sales. Sell it someone that wants to make a website out of it, or sell it to someone that will try to sell it to someone that wants to make a website out of it.
The domains you registered don't have the juice to become websites considering you or someone will have to compete with already established sites with better, more relevant names.
If the domain doesn't generate traffic on it's own then it will cost you or someone else building the site so much money that it wouldn't be practical, when some of that money could be spent buying a better domain.

It has already been mentioned that the auto appraisal prices are generally worthless, but you keep referring to them as the example of value. They are not.

There are a couple of domains in your list that make sense, but they are NETs.
For someone to put in the time and money developing a commerce site that will forever leak traffic to the COM is just not practical.
And generally anybody that knows what it takes to make money off of a website will not use the NET.

You need to ask yourself these questions when looking at the domains you have already registered, what is going to be sold or what service offered, how many different ways can the words or like words still be registered, what makes your combo of words better than another phrase framed differently?

These are in the wrong order and the competition would be too high even if they were in the right order. Type them into Google and see what comes up. How much would it cost to bring them to rank higher than what is already there.

The TM names wont sell because nobody that would develop a site wants the issues that come with them, and just so you know, experienced domainers don't appreciate those that register TM names because it make the entire industry look bad. That whole squatting thing, you know?

I'm sorry to say but you have spent too much money already and you need to hit the reset button, spend time on the forum reading threads in the beginner forum https://www.namepros.com/forums/domain-beginners.25/ and keep the credit card in your wallet until you understand what makes a domain valuable.

You are trying to play in the big leagues with the skill of a kid playing T ball.

I wish you good luck in your future domaining adventures, but remember this is a business and to succeed you need to know the ins and outs.

Ok. Here's what I am trying to say.
I feel the names I have are better.

Subjective? Yes.
But, mine are proper context if nothing else.
I think they flow better and make more sense.
Someone would be more likely to type those in than some mixed up words.

Great names?
Nope.
Did I think they were when I grabbed them?
Well, not awesome........but better than what they really are.
Mediocore.

Have I tried an appraisal thing?
I don't think so, but I got over/under at 900 and taking the over.

Have I tried outbound?
Yes, that is what led me to make the post.

Any luck?
Not even a reply.

Do I have more outbound I can do and do a better job at it?
Yeah.....

Do I have other similar 2-3 worders that just sitting around not getting any eyeballs?
Oh yeah.

It's a tough gig....
Way more time than one would think.
So much to learn.
Really.

All good.
Have fun.

I like that AL Davis tribute thumbs up for that alone.

I have been focusing only on building the websites so to me that is more important than the domain names at this point.

Cool you have decent ones.

This is why I am learning to build websites as this is the most obvious way to have an advantage over the rest of you. Some of you on this website dont even do this.

At the end of the day the cost to make a domain profitable is really low based on money alone and all yearly fees.

If you include the value of your time for many it wouldnt be worth it but as of now learning the websites is more important to me even if every domain I have bought makes me $0 back.

Many of you who replied to me are really negative and you could say you are being realistic.

But these views are generally based on the domain name alone.

Out off all of you who replied to me take the worst domain name you can think of that has sold for or you estimate is worth thousands or more why do you think that is?

If a domain was for sale called 3Astpxo-fwekbfk.net as an example most of you probably wouldnt pay $1 for that.

If the current owner proved it had thousands of views or money made from revenue from ads on the current website and proof it makes money I find it very hard to believe one person wouldnt pay for that value no matter how horrible the domain name is.

You started this thread to ask if you're doing a good job buying domain names. No need to get defensive just because you didn't like the feedback you were getting. Everyone on here generally wants to help. For newcomers, that often means a lot of constructive criticism and some early hard lessons.

Developing is a great idea. With that being said, your names could still stand to be a lot better if you plan to build them out.

Every domain name any person owns you could tell them there is better ones than any they own.

Amazon.com and Facebook.com and Netflix.com and Yahoo.com how much value are these domains worth today?

What was the value of each of these 6 months or 1 year before they were bought/created the first time?

I would make your very same argument about these 4 domains before they were bought and I dont see how that mattered since each domain alone could be worth over 1 million dollars without the businesses going with it.

Do you disagree with that?

I dont think any of the 4 names are that good especially right before they were bought the first time.I would of told all 4 of them to find something better than what they picked.

Amazon.com makes me think of the rain forest.

Netflix.com this one makes me think of internet movies but you couldnt stream movies with them for many years before they came out with that.I heard they almost went out of business at one point.

I would assume Netflix.com is the best name of the 4 since it is more related to the business.

Facebook.com Your face on a book I would of picked a better name.Myspace.com was a better name and I dont think that was that good either.

Yahoo.com They used to spend thousands on commercials so people would go to it.I don't see it as any different than Google.com both of their names have no meaning that I am aware of.

With that being said of course there is better ones than mine I would hope so but that clearly doesnt matter as my examples have proven.

Thanks though.

Sooo... why even bother asking for opinions? Seems like you just wanted to pick a fight.

For a domain name to be valuable it has to be marketable. The easiest method of test is to ask yourself, "If I was a startup founder or an entrepreneur, why would I pay more just to get this name?"

And be consious of better alternatives. For instance, moneytransfer.com is a lot more appealing than amoneytransfer.com, and so is transfermoney.com (reorganization of the words) or sendcash.com (synonyms).

So wrong.
Technically he's not. Facebook is worth a lot more than any domain name out there.

But there's a difference. It's takes a lot of time and resources to develop a domain to the point where you can make a decent buck off the ad revenue.

Any domain can be developed and monetized.
A name like amazon.com has built-in value, it could be sold undeveloped for big money, just for the branding potential.
On the other hand yahoo probably wouldn't be worth so much without the development and accumulated good faith.

Some names are better than others, some are memorable, some are not. Some are viable for advertising, some are not.
If you are buying names to resell them, you just can't buy whatever stuff is unregistered and hope somebody will want to buy it from you.
If you are buying names to develop them, the constraints are different. Some people don't care about domain quality because they rely on SEO. That is fine, until you need to advertise your domains, or put them on business cards.

TL,DR version: we only appraise raw domains, we cannot appraise business ideas or what-if scenarios.

So wrong.
It depends on the buyer to some it would be wrong as they would only want a name.

If you can prove that your domain makes money every month and the more the better someone is going to be interested which is obvious even to a blind person.

Nah some of the people who replied gave me great feedback but others are so biased and were/are looking to pick a fight themselves.

You give me a biased reply I am going to say something back just as many have done for me.I have learned quite a bit from these posts.

So here is a question to all of you which will prove my point with some of you.

If you could be the 100% owner of any domain you want that you do not own which one would you pick and why?

I would either pick Facebook.com or Amazon.com just based on traffic and ad revenues only.

So wrong.

So which one would you pick and why if I am so wrong?

Thanks for the insult, I would tell you what i think but @Eric Lyon warned me about being a pro. Something young man, you ,must learn to do too.
BTW you never stop learning in this business, it is always changing.

Funny how you are tired of it when your answer will probably make a fool out of you.

At least you have good timing.

If you are such an expert you should easily be able to prove how Facebook.com and Amazon.com both do not compare to some other domain where the name alone has all this value to compete with either of them.

I would find it hilarious for you to tell me what you honestly thought both those names were worth before they were bought the first time.

A pro wouldnt say something so ridiculous as you have done with no proof to back it.

So prove me wrong and put me in my place.

No one is disputing that. The problem with this, however, is in its implication—that all domains are equally valuable to a buisnese, when they're not. Some domains are more valualbe because they're easier to market and generate traffic for. That's why there's a market for domains.

No one is disputing that.

I question if a few of the people who have posted to me would dispute that actually.

I wouldnt remove the possibility that a few who replied would say a domain name they think is complete trash would still be worthless to EVERYONE even if that domain made $50 a month in revenue from ads each month and could prove it.

The problem with this, however, is in its implication—that all domains are equally valuable to a buisnese, when they're not.

I did not imply that there is no way ALL DOMAINS ARE EQUALLY VALUABLE TO A BUSINESS.That would be an insane assumption.

Some domains are more valualbe because they're easier to market and generate traffic for. That's why there's a market for domains.

Some yes but not all.

You could just prefer one name over another like your first name and last name .com and not based on that you think they're easier to market and generate traffic for.

Amazon.com and Facebook.com are not very good names if everything else was equal or if we were to estimate the value of all these domains if no business was ever attached to any of them.

Insurance.com and Sex.com and VacationRentals.com and RealEstate.com I would assume all 4 have a much more valuable name if all things were equal such as traffic and ad revenue were the same as Amazon.com and Facebook.com

The problem is that they are not equal as I doubt all 4 of those domains combined make anywhere near the profit of either Amazon.com or Facebook.com

How much is Jungle.com or Mybook.com as they are similar to me but I doubt a business is devoted to either of these domains but I have not checked. These names are just not that good for the businesses Amazon.com and Facebook.com are and became.

Amazon is a six-letter dictionary word, you're looking at six to seven digits for the domain. Facebook I'd assume would be a four digit domain, but they also purchased fb.com for 8.5 million. Either way, they're marketable.

Jungle.com and mybook.com too have a lot of marketing potential.

That said, you're discussing sites and not domains, and this isn't the forum for that.

If most people know what your name means and it is really obvious how it relates to your business I would agree with that.

Both of these do not.

They are both easy to pronounce and remember but many domains are like that and not worth 8.5 million.

Jungle.com and mybook.com too have a lot of marketing potential.

It doesn't have to. The important thing is that it's marketable. Amazon is marketable because it's a dictionary word, so it's easy to remember and you don't have to rely on search engines to look it up.

They are both easy to pronounce and remember but many domains are like that and not worth 8.5 million.
It was fb.com that sold for 8.5 million. And that's what you can expect a LL.com domain to sell for.

How am I not talking about domains?
A domain is the name under which you're allowed to publish your content. The content itself is something separate. Granted, there are people that sell developed sites with the domain, but that's something else entierly.

You aksed for a appraisal of your domains, not a site that you're hosting.

I would let it be. I don't think the OP understands since he keeps bringing the discussion back around to why his domains "could" be worth a lot because Amazon is worth a lot. He's too busy arguing to listen. Let him figure it out the hard way and come back in six months when/if he's ready to learn for real.
