Yes they grabbed it in November 2016, after it was dropped,
simply by registering, not buying from anyone.

At that time I hand-registered such domains as Game.Life Games.Life Money.Life Marketing.Life etc., etc...
they also were dropped.

Crypto.Life and Coin.Life I simply hand-register for $1.99 just a few months ago!
They have a regular renewal fee.

But since August they became the most demanded domains of those that I have.
The biggest offer I received for Crypto.Life is $7,500 for Coin.Life - $2,500

...but I'm not going to sell them yet.

That was a very good catch!

Particularly "Crypto" one is so good, that it is low XX XXX name in 2018 imo - would not be surprised if that gets some serious offers for 20k+ very soon. Even in this case I would not be sure whether to sell it for this price, as in few years it will be probably worth much more then that (crypto craze is not going away anytime soon) - just imo.

Yes, end of current renewal cycles ongoing atm. But how can someone drop a name like this I was watching this name for a long time and got lucky.

It depends on portfolio size...
95% that this domain was dropped with tens/hundreds other domains from the same portfolio...

I also dropped some lower quality .life recently, maybe 4-5 of them...I analyze traffic/demand over time - if low stats -> drop. But there are domains one should NEVER drop. Anyway, it is all very good

I had 3 inquiries on the absolutely average .life domains, 1 of them was sold.
And no any interest regarding HQ domains...
Domaining is not so linear as you imagine...

Sure, it can take few years to monetize HQ domains - for lower quality, we can put BIN of 990 and let the probabilities work, HQ are long shots but potentially much much more rewarding, imo...

i spent several hours trying to catch LOAN.LIFE domain name.
and what we see... the name is reserved by Registry

previous owner was a chinese domainer
