I am the owner of MCV.COM, I registered this domain with NetworkSolutions in 1997. And I renewed this domain until April 2019. Someone hacked into my account and did an illegal transfer to “Internet Domain Service BS Corp”. Now this domain name is not under my name anymore, Is there a legal way to get it back?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It was at $11,000 approx. 1 hour ago - now the auction vanished

The auction didn't vanish. As DNB said, the domain has been taken off the market for the time of the investigation.

You may not be able to find it via search any more because Flippa temporarily suspended the auction.

Twists and turns and in the end it's never who or what you expected it to be.

Sorry I read just the first couple pages of this - but - at the OP, useful would be your step by step of how they got the domain out of your account?

For example, my DynaDot and GoDaddy are both set for two step authorization. Just to login to my DD if the IP address is not recognized two step authorization kicks in.

To get a domain out of my accounts, would require unlocking of a domain, which all my domains are set as locked, until via two step authorization, I unlock them.

So...how did this happen, OP?

Suggest that you enable two factor authorization and set all your domains as default locked from now on - I assume NSOL allows these settings same as DD and GD.

Did a quick search on Flippa and "Bidder X (100% | $23.8k)" is currently bidding on a number of premium names at Flippa (such as CPU.com Problem.com) too, so might just be a coincidence that he's the highest bidder for both of these domainnamebroker.com related names.

Agreed.

Even if they can't reveal anything about the investigation, it would be reassuring to see their face. Still, I think it's more important they focus on the investigation itself. No sense of them coming here to prematurely report anything.

@FlippaDomains will most likely need to be contacted by the proper authorities before they reveal any customer information. And for that to happen, @Stan123 will have to prove to the proper authorities that he is in fact the rightful owner.

@Stan123 -- If possible please post some screenshots that would suggest you are the rightful owner. This will help gain the support of NamePros members to further help with the investigation.

AND/OR

Do you still have access to the phone number (908 area code) listed in the WHOIS prior to it allegedly being stolen? If so, would you mind if I called you on the 908 phone number to help confirm your claim?

Were you at the Live Auction? I guess bids online were closed prior to Live bids?

Piece of advice, please use two factor authentication. If the site doesn't offer that, transfer out the domain ASAP to whoever offer it. I mean almost all site has it, so don't be lazy. It take few min max to activate it.
Good luck. Hopefully OP get his name back.

Well Sir lets bin it thn and see :) or is there any other volunteer would like to do it ?

It's too risky.

If for whatever reason the NamesCon buyer doesn't pay (or the buyer pays and is willing to do a quick flip to suffice flippa's buyer), then I (or whomever bid) would be on the hook for $35k. And if I (or another NP member truly wanted to buy it) they likely would have bought it on NamePros for much less. However, the terms (method of payment) raised red flags for a few prospective buyers.

agreed, btw MCV.com sold on NamesCon for 28k, I don't how they would allow a stolen domain to be auction. wtf is this
Edited: the domain sold for 28k is MVC not MCV. My mistake
