The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com and it is a jaw-dropper. As some of you know, bad news has been piling up for new gTLD fans in recent weeks but the sun finally came out Tuesday when Donuts announced they had made a $500,000 all cash sale of Home.loans - the biggest new gTLD sale ever reported. Less than 24 hours later came a major sales aftershock that we revealed tonight – a $300,000 sale of a .CLUB domain – the second highest new gTLD sale ever reported. Those two lead our latest weekly all extension Top 20 sales chart, followed by a 6-figure .com sale. You can get all of the details here: http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2018/20180207.htm

Wow pretty incredible week. Not only positions 1 and 2 on the weekly report, and a combined sale of the new gTLDs that is more than all of the other entries on the weekly leader list combined. This also represents the highest two values ever for a new gTLD!

I think this news, particularly if followed up by some other big sales in coming months, will help the new gTLD space have credibility of being (in some cases) high quality and demanding high prices, and that will trickle down to help all of us who are invested in new gTLDs.

It is interesting that now the 4 highest new gTLD prices of all time have all taken place in the past 12 months.
Home(.)loans $500,000
The(.)club $300.000
Casino(.)online $201,000
video(.)games $183,000

Lets hope lots more good news!

I would be elated with one sale at 1/100 of that ! :)

Putting even the $500,000 sale in perspective, according to Namebio data in all of 2017 only 10 .com domains sold for that much or more. This is indeed a huge pair of sales for the new gTLDs!

Me
This public stunt dosen´t make them worth anything
Look in one year or so, this domain still reslovs to parking page and gets sold for $50

What 2 marketing stunts done right before namescon? No way. Who would have thought. Unless the registrars say they aren't kicking the money back to market the buyers business like they did before I'm not believing the profit numbers.

Wow, great to see and looking forward to have amazing year for new gTLD as well.

Keep in mind, home.loans sale is from registry not from domain investor.

The $300,000 sale of the(.)club is also excellent news for the Brandaisy Marketplace. A huge commission, but more than that a lot of attention as an option to the other brandable markets.

By the way, both of the domains are up and operational with their new owners today. TheClub is sort of like a high end AirBnB type operation, by invitation only, offering luxury homes and travel experiences.

It is just a beginning :) And keep in mind 95% + of new gTLD sales are publicly unreported. Lot of private transactions ongoing atm.

I thought I would add a little color to the $300K "the.club" sale. Although, the .CLUB registry has sold over 6 million in premium names "the.club" was not a registry owned name. In fact, it was bought October 2015 for $19K from the registry. I believe this is the highest sale price of a new domain extension by a domain investor. Congrats to the seller. And congrats to the buyer for getting a great brandable name for their business.

I too was curious about the owner so I looked up the site for "the.club"

It's founder is a son of the one of the richest people in the world with almost 10 Billion in wealth.

"The.club" is a great name and ultimately if their concept is successful the pricing of the name won't matter.

Why The.Club was born.

My family and I are very fortunate to own a beautiful ski home in the Colorado Rockies. We love the time we spend there. It’s one of our favorite places to unwind and rejuvenate.

But our vacation home does have one flaw: It’s stuck in one location. And as much as we enjoy our time there, we love to spend time in other places, too. When we do, our home sits empty. It’s a guilty feeling knowing that asset is going to waste.

I could rent it out, but after the fees and taxes associated with renting, not much is left over—certainly not enough to outweigh the fear that those renters won’t respect my property. When I couldn’t find a better solution, I decided to create one.

I invited a few of my closest friends to join me in building a new way of sharing the unused time in our vacation homes, and The.Club was born. Together, we devised a system to fairly valuate each other’s assets and wrote down a common-sense code of conduct to ensure respectful behavior.

What began as a network of close friends has grown to become an international community of peers, all sharing the untapped value of the things we love. It’s even expanded beyond vacation homes to include private jets, yachts, and one-of-a-kind experiences around the globe.

If you have a luxury vacation home or other assets that go unused part of the year, you may be a good fit for The.Club. I’d be thrilled to tell you more about it.

Sincerely,

That is true for other extensions as well. There is no reason why nTLDs sales would be reported less than .com.
