I was just searching random domains at Dynadot and found a real bargain. When I search the domain wave.com it shows available for 2k as a premium listing. I didn't bother trying to buy it because it is not likely real.

But could it be real? I have it in my cart. :)

Buy it, what's the worst that could happen and what is the best that could happen.

In a gamblers world it would actually be pretty good odds.

I don't want to tie up 2k in case there is some crazy refund policy.

Just type in https://www.wave.com/ and you will see it is a developed site..

Lots of fake names at afternic I see lately. I even saw facebook.com listed for $50,000.. lol

I didn't think it was real, but makes me wonder. How do I really know it's not real. I guess I have to call the registered owner and ask. :)

and if it is, get it even cheaper. If I didn't respect you here on NP, I would have already done it myself. BTW, doubt its a real price, just read between the lines.

Don't fool yourselves, this will never happen. Owners of such domains are being contacted every week with real offers.

What can REALLY go wrong is you fall for some IDN "trap" and you lose your $$$$ !!!

It's got to the stage that you have to do that before you bid on any name at Afternic. How long will it be before there are no genuine sales on Afternic?

It is not real. I will have it cancelled. However if it were me I would buy a name like that if I saw it. Over the past year I have seen about 20 domains sell for less than $2k that were 3L or one word .com domains. legitimate sales. It is very rare of course but it does happen.

Now why'd you have to go and say that? Now I'll be scanning 247 for those. :)

I wonder what my mathematical chances are of getting one? :)

I saw them auditing our sales. We are releasing a bunch of sales data at Namescon for attendees and when I was digging through the data I was shocked to see some really low numbers and thought there is no way these are legit sales so I went to audit them. I found a bunch that were legit. I think mathematically your odds are low, but they are out there. And I also thought wow I bet this sold in 5 minutes after it was listed and some really good names sat for weeks before selling, maybe everyone thought it was too good to be true or maybe they slipped by most people's radar because there are about 12 million listings. (thus the math 20 or so out of 12 million is not a lot). Good luck.
