The solution to poverty in third world countries ( and Mexico ) isn't immigration.

We need to spend time and money educating people, creating engineers, doctors, skilled workers. Educated people don't want to live in shit-holes and will create opportunity.

Countries in central and south America would benefit greatly from American missions and educational system. We should be granting special visas, awarding scholarships and paying promising students a stipend to study and then go home.

Export democracy with a pen, not guns. America thrives b/c we respect God, our own human rights and the rule of law. Export those ideas that made us great in the first place.

It's almost like you don't understand how business works.

Doesn't Canada have a merit based system for citizenship? I think they do. It's not in keeping with our policies or traditions and I question a valid need to to change.

Sh*tholes change.. In the 1800s Ireland was considered a "shithole country." Italy once was perceived that way too. Immigrants from both faced a lot of crap at the time.

Nonetheless, it's an atrocity and embarrassment that the leader of our country speaks of others in such a demeaning way.

What politically correct word would a Liberal use to describe a Sh*thole country? And if they aren't sh*thole countries why are the people fleeing them and invading Europe and the US illegally?

What Liberals keep forgetting is that the immigrants of the past were totally different from the present lazy lot. When they arrived mostly penniless, they had no social benefits, no free food, no housing, no health care, no free public transportation, no interpreters, no internet for their cell phones and no pocket money. They had to start working their asses off right away or starve...

Why don't Liberals and the bloody Media ever mention this massive difference?

And who ends up paying for all the free benefits that these invaders from sh*thole countries get?

The Democrats will pull money from social security, in their plan to bankrupt the U.S. taxpayer, and hasten the merging (harmonizing) of the United States and Mexico.

Apparently, illegal aliens are more important to the democrats, than are retirees and pensioners, border security or national sovereignty.

"Politically incorrect" seems to have become a euphemism for "acting like a dick."

Haitians have suffered from extreme political upheaval for over a century - brutal dictators, military coups and widespread government corruption. That's what destroyed the country and its economy.

Irish immigrants came here to escape famine and poverty. Germans largely for political reasons, Italians to escape poverty and for political reasons. They all came here to build a better life for themselves and for their families. What makes Haitians any different?

No, immigration doesn't solve issues of poverty or politics in the country of origin, but it gives people affected by these things a way out and hope for a better life.

Because in the end of the day, regardless of ethnicity, everyone everywhere wants the same basic things: A roof over our heads, enough to eat, a safe place to raise a family, and reason to believe that our kids and grandkids will have it the same or better.

Employee pressed wrong button. Even online, there are many times you do something, like delete something, and I get an "Are you sure?" prompt. Correction went out 38 minutes later. I guess some people were in a panic, thinking a missile was actually on the way.

What has Haiti given to the world besides voodoo? What has Nigeria given us besides scammers, prostitutes and Boko Haram? How about El Salvador's contribution of violent gangs including the Mara Salvatrucha, better known as the MS-13? Or Somalia with their Warlords, Al-Shabaab and lawlessness?
