...and they're off! The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com and the 2018 domain sales season is underway. It is always good to get off on the right foot and broker @Sharjil Saleem, assisted by Ali Rajpoot, made sure than happened by closing a $220,000 sale that tops our first weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart of the New Year. With that Sharjil picks up where he left off in 2017, a year in which he had three of the 12 biggest sales reported, including one that reached $2 million. While .coms dominated the new chart the ccTLDs and non .com gTLDs each took two places on the Big Board with a new gTLD soaring all the way to #3 with a $50,000 sale. You can get all of the details here: https://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2018/20180110.htm

These brokers must earn a fortune with the commissions they earn on these size of sales.

DXB.com -- currently being developed as "The dubai of blockchain"

2009 sedo auction: https://sedo.com/search/details/?aid=60510

2011 sedo auction: https://sedo.com/search/details/?aid=114379

2016: DXB.com was mentioned in a few NamePros threads, including the controversial investment fund of HERE

Update on Aug 21, 2016: The credibility of Sharjil Saleem continues to be called into question, and extreme caution is recommended.

There looks to be confusion between the two of you in terms of who’s in the fund, who’s not etc. I am guessing you are under the impression that fmhot was probably a partner of Gang Cheng, YOUR Chinese investor.
DXB.com is a friend of Sharjils so not in this fund either. You are just brokering the name.

It looks to me like you aren't sure of your role as of yet - Sharjil is your direct contact, and Sharjil is the one telling you what to buy, etc. Although you have not proved any large transactions from the fund, aside from the couple of low end LLLs.

Nothing about this is clear other than the fact you are brokers. Why not just stick to that instead of trying to BS so many people.

In another thread...

Someone I know owns DXB.com for example. had it for a while. it is the exact match for Dubai's abbreviations. it's been for sale for a while now. not sold. why not? like I said it's an EXACT MATCH. and still as rich as Dubai is. NO ONE wants to shell out the money to own it?

Mind you there's a huge market for single and two number license plate numbers. yet no one has bought DXB.com for however many millions it might cost?

From what I can tell, the previous WHOIS email for DXB.com [[email protected]] uses more than one name, and address. To me, it is not fully clear as to who the owner was prior to the sale.

In short, while I have no reason to believe this sale isn't legit, I am weary of Sharjil, as his sales on NP, hasn't exactly been smooth. Recently, there was some questions regarding his flippa auction
https://www.namepros.com/threads/sharjil-saleem-shill-bidding-again-on-flippa.1054673/

But, hey, big sales (when legit, and if truly verified) are good for the industry! And, from a brokers perspective, this sale couldn't have came at a better time, right before NamesCon! A big sale like that could bring Sharjil, and others involved, new prime time brokerage listings. And/or, at the very least, it gives other LLL.com sellers a juicy comparable.

Given that it looks like DXB.com will be a crypto site, it may be discussed on Tuesday's (January 30th) fireside chat at namesCON.

**Hopefully DNJ truly verifies sales. After reading how sales are verified at DNJ, I can not say I am fully confident in their sales verification process.**

Shocked by CryptoExpert.org. Less than one year old and reached that price through an auction.

Are you accusing Sharjil of being a scammer? DNJournal to be fake news?
Care to give proof or even more specifics? your post reads a little wishy-washy, yes, no, maybe...

Are you accusing Sharjil of being a scammer?

What part of my post accuses @Sharjil of being a scammer?

DNJournal to be fake news?

Is President Trump accusing CNN to be fake news? Does that mean everything on CNN is fake news?

I will reiterate what I said at the bottom of my post, "After reading how sales are verified at DNJ, I can not say I am fully confident in their sales verification process."

Specifically, I am referring to: https://www.dnjournal.com/sales-verification.htm

We also receive reports of sales made between only two parties, a buyer and a seller. In these cases, unless the parties to the sale are already very well-known to us, we require that documentation showing proof of the price paid be sent to us.

your own words
"I am ***weary*** of Sharjil, as his sales on NP, hasn't exactly been smooth.

Yes, I am weary of @Sharjil. Are you not weary of NamePros members with 0 positive trade reviews and 1 negative trade review?

Now, I will note that the quoted linked thread, was later started by the same person who left the negative trade review. However, at some point after the thread was created, Flippa had banned Sharjil for what appears to be having two accounts. Though Flippa states bans are permanent, one of Sharjils account was reinstated. Also note, this account hasn't been active for 2 years, meaning it is unlikely this account was used for any nefarious activity. As previously stated, it was most likely changed to a more professional username, that would highlight his full name for broker / brand purposes, rather than include (DXB) to his name.

"After reading how sales are verified at DNJ, I ***can not say I am fully confident*** in their sales verification process.**"

Can you, or anybody else, tell me something to help instill confidence in their sales verification process? As of right now, I am not fully confident in it, and it's not necessary anything against the publisher. Sales, in a dicey industry where self promotion is king, are hard to fully verify. In most scenario's, it's a tough job.

You can ask yourself if you think Sharjil is a scammer, or not. This may vary on ones definition of scammer. I simply said I was weary... I was not the one to say Sharjils credibility continues to be called into question, and extreme caution is recommended. That disclaimer was updated to @ErwanKina 20 million dollar investment fund HERE where it was revealed Sharjil was a partner.

NP: We noticed that you now have a $20 million fund to buy domain names. Is this from one investor or several?

Erwan: Honestly we believe we will acquire more than $20M of domains in 2016; this is just the start. It’s the amount we are sure at 100% we will at least invest.

One of my partners, Sharjil Saleem built a worldwide network of really big players over the years with G. Chang. He’s from Dubai, and other partners are from China, UAE, and Germany. We will meet to discuss our next goals several times during the year. Our next meeting is scheduled in February in Dubai. All the investors are domain experts.

I’m in charge of finding the best opportunities and closing deals. I will also broker our best domains very soon. Sharjil was my best client a few months ago. We made awesome deals. He then offered me the opportunity to cooperate more seriously with the network he had built. In any business, you have to find a guy who can help you improve yourself every day. The right mentor shows you how to perform and you can win big from it. In return, you have to invest yourself at 100% for the success of your group.

(Editor's note: The credibility of Sharjil Saleem continues to be called into question, and extreme caution is recommended.)

I'm not 100% what came from this fund. It looks to be some sort of PR stunt of some kind. If the mysterious "fund" was indeed some sort of PR stunt orchestrated by @Sharjil, then would you put it past him to orchestrate a PR stunt regarding domain sales? In case you are assuming again, I am not saying DXB.com is a fake sale; simply stating weary of Sharjil.

@ErwanKina stated that @Sharjil had backed out on various important deals, and that stopped their co-brokerage agreement. HERE

One more thing to add, per this comment, Sharjil seemingly uses DNJ as a reference of credibility of some sort, for people to go to find out more about him. Hence an additional need for one to have confidence in DNJ sales verification process.

I should probably give DNJ's sales verification a little more credit. I just want to ensure they are doing their best to keep a gold standard of sales verification. What may have worked yesterday, may not work today type deal. I sincerely respect their efforts in attempting to keep information accurate, just not 100% confident in it, partly because of the difficulty of the job.

Other domain blogs such as DomainInvesting.com still have articles of auction sales, that appear to have cancelled. Now, I get it's hard for bloggers to know when sales don't complete, but given the trickle effects, I think retractions are important when finding out such information. Nothing against @EJS -- just want to ensure accurate information is being distributed industry wide.

Notice this article reporting on a record $1+ million NameJet sale HERE. I do not see any record of DNJ reporting this sale... Am I mistaken?

it looks like DXB.com will be a crypto site

According to the current DXB.com about us page, DXB PTY LTD is owned by a Michael Su (or Michael Suqi on LinkedIn HERE)
Who We Are:

DXB PTY LTD is owned by Michael SU, who has been in blockchain industry for many years, especially in FinTech. As an entrepreneur, Mr SU is the founder Bitcoin Technology, which is professional in Bitcoin mining and Bitcoin Wallet.

I don't know what domain "Bitcoin Technology" was/is hosted on. BitcoinTechnology.com is for sale with a $18,500 ask/BIN and BiTech.com is for sale with a $35,000 ask/BIN.

According to his linked in page, Michael Suqi is the CEO of Dahonghuo.com, and is present in a few other companies such as [CEO] of Coolcoin PTY LTD [June 2017 - present], eg CoolCoin.com.

Per -- https://namebio.com/?s==QjNykjM4UTM -- CoolCoin.com had sold via Uniregistry for $18,974 (2016 WHOIS shows NAME ADMINISTRATION INC as the registrant)
