Is this considered a short domain? Both english letters and pronouceable.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Only one letter is English. The phrase " Ye olde English shoppe". Is really " the old english tea shop". The "y" is in fact an old runic letter "thorn", and it represented the "th" combination, but it looked like a flowery "y", and thus the word became "ye".

Thisis not the same as "ye"as in "come all ye faithfull" :)

Nice trip back in time and quite informative! è is actually an English letter though, a quick search on google will confirm that.

This domain and others with the special character or accented character (in this case, the accent grave) are salable to someone looking for a similar or same two letter domain but unable to afford the sky high price of the two letter domain without the special/accented character.

Ye.com without the accent might be worth six figures while ye with the accent would be much less expensive but still valuable to the right buyer.

Thanks xy, if a domain name is valued for their rarity and usability then yè.com could be worth a lot. Although as of current no one has bought or sold one, I'm not even sure if anyone has the expertise to even value one of these . .

I'm with you in saying that an accented letter is of lesser value as it is quite new and (foreign) to the unfamiliar eye. In saying that there is no law with icann that stipulates that an accented letter can't be used in place of a normal character. So an è could be used to represent a normal e. If you don't look at it as an accented or special character it could just be seen as a fancy letter to represent the normal e that anyone can recognise.

This particular dm besides being 2 English letters, it's also a word in Pinyin Mandarin phonetic script meaning Leaf, Liquid, Armpit :), Leaf & Page. Dozens of other quality words ends in yè. Another interesting fact is that it's a popular surname in China and Taiwan with a population of about 6 mil . . with some very famous people using the surname. It's also the name of an ancient city there. I'm raving on a bit . . :))

So it might be safe to say that I have about 6-10 mil potential buyers in China and half that elsewhere, but will someone actually buy it??? Won't be cheap of course but time will tell.

if there is no traffic, then it has no value

and the puny code is more than 2 letters, so it's not really a short domain

imo....

I think what you're talking about is a dm for eg; ye.com and ye.com or tk.com and tk.com where one requires a puny code to enter the address. A beautiful house in a prestige's area usually isn't open to the public for partying.
