Freeceive // dot // com

Bought: $4
Sold: $2500

After my first sale (Bookworm), and 2nd (Rewired), and 3rd (Longevica) I'm happy to share the details of my 4th larger domain sale for Freeceive (completed in December)!

Like Longevica I originally bought this domain at $5 closeout at Godaddy (-$1 bulk discount for buying 5 at a time). Technically you could say it cost me $12.50 including the renewal.

I liked Freeceive as a compound of Free and Receive. I envisioned some form of promotion or sampling marketing company sending users free samples or free offers. Nothing on the website yet other than the very short definition, which somewhat confirms that the end use will likely be similar to what I had originally imagined for the domain:

-ceive
comes from Latin, where it has the meaning "get, receive".

Unfortunately for the rest, it's not as juicy or detailed as my first two sales, and there are no longer email interactions to share.

Like Longevica this sale was done via Afternic .. simply one day in early December out of the blue I received the following email:

"Great news, freeceive (// dot // com) has sold via Fast Transfer through our DLS Network.

No action is needed from you at this time. You will receive an email update within 8-10 days regarding your payment."

8 days later I received an email saying the transfer was completed and to expect an email 1-3 days later with payment details.

3 days later I got a confirmation the funds had been sent.

I had listed the domain at $2500 (again like Longevica) I didn't even remember the price I had originally set .. lol).

Overall I'm happy with the sale and price .. I think it was a good sale for me and a great unique and powerful name for the buyer.

I have a smaller mid-range $xxx sale to report from December as well, but that wraps up my first full fiscal year after starting "Domaining" (as opposed to collecting domains for possible future development).

Nice sale, congrats!

Is the 5x bulk discount still going on, do they apply it automatically, or is it a code?

It's something available for as long as I can remember. It's automatic and you don't need a code. However:

1) All 5 domains need to be purchased in the same transaction.
2) It is only a discount of $5 for multiples of $5
(meaning you will no get $7 off if you buy 7 domains .. you will only get $5)
3) The discount applies to any domain at closeout from $5 to $11 ($5, $8, $9, $10 and $11)

To be honest .. when I started out I always tried to make purchases in blocks of 5 closeout domains. Now I'm a little pickier and buying less than when I started .. I maybe buy 5 at a time once or twice a month now at most.

I think I can almost blame the discount for encouraging me to buy names I might otherwise have not .. lol. But I certainly have saved as well as my ~1500 domain portfolio has a large number domains I grabbed at closeout. But I'm still happy with the vast majority of my purchases in 2017 (I started buying more in fall 2016). That being said I've learned a lot in my first year and a bit after seriously shifting into domaining (as opposed to mostly just buying and holding domains for potential future development).

Congratulations...many people would have priced that name at 250...as you demonstrate through your success, higher numbers can be achieved if you price domain names well.
