Wow weird. Gandi recently undercut them at $32. Price wars. Probably temporary though (end of year).

You can also renew .IO domain at NameCheap with the code FCDISCOUNT, it's just $26.03. Just renewed my domain eCoupon.io a week ago.

@iHaveThisIdea - the bulk of my IO are at Moniker - $31.99 reg/transfer, and renewal is $35.99 and also since nCheap UI is horribad. Just happened to have an IO domain expiring in a week at Moniker and checked at TLD-List first, expecting the nCheap $32.88 to be the cheapest and saw the lower price.

One good thing about nCheap and IO is they are showing full whois info (at gwhois at least), whereas Moniker does not. Looks to depend on what whois service you use.

I've been looking to consolidate and was going to move them to Gandi - but it's a wash for me UI-wise (issues with both NC and G). But the 20% would save a lot given that I have dozens. I was just surprised it was an active code.

In case anyone has domains leaving Moniker, customer service can manually fast approve transfer away if needed. One of my IOs was 4 days away from expiry and since the transfer was already initiated it would not have had an issue, yet my preference is to speed things up rather than wait just in case : wink :

My guess is most everyone has their IO already at nCheap, in which case the FCDISCOUNT renew coupon is also a great deal.

Thanks for the heads up on prices!

Just tried GWHOIS on my .io names (reg at Godaddy and NameCheap) and none are showing full WHOIS info. What happened to the basic information - its almost like privacy is on now.

Even some of my .com regged at Godaddy are not showing full WHOIS anymore. Anyone know what is going on with WHOIS lately?

I'm using WhoisGuard at NCheap for my IO domain and it works well. Your real information is hidden.

I'd rather like my info to be exposed though. I used to receive offers via the WHOIS, made lots of sales (not just .IO) but since about mid Summer 2017 the .IO offers have plummeted since they've hidden the info.

@AGAME - you already saw this thread about when the whois info changed, posting in case other people haven't seen it.

Fully agree the lack of info is potentially an issue you can try putting "THIS DOMAIN FOR SALE" and a domain that goes to a contact page in the Organization field. My silly yet effective page is Buy-This-Awesome-Domain/com, although overlooked updating it on many of my IO, on my to do list once these transfers complete.

Moved all mine to landers, currently testing out Undeveloped. It confuses me that a buyer would look at whois and NOT directly navigate to the site, yet my contact form proves that is true sometimes. One positive is that IO buyers are more techy so hopefully they can find our info more so than the average buyer.

I was thinking too IO buyers were navigating directly to the WHOIS because they (I assume) know about WHOIS more than, say, the mom and pop trying to open up a e-commerce shop to compliment their local store... I'm in the process of moving names to undeveloped too. I have already received a few offers and thats just from listings without changing nameservers yet. Time will tell.

But I am still confused, in general, on this trend to eliminate WHOIS. Probably a topic for elsewhere..
