I updated my TD store on the @toughdomains platform. I have been very pleased with their product. Has anyone else tried ToughDomains? Obviously each domain has its own landing page. You can create multiple stores for your entire portfolio. Within each store you can create categories. I absolutely love this feature. I am able to add custom text to my store if I want to, which I do! I can add as much or little info as I want. It feels completely customizable . . . mostly:) I dont have to pay TD any commissions for sales. They are linked up with Escrow.com.

For those that use other products, have you tried TD? And for those of you that love your current product as much as I love mine, what features do you have that you love?

Hi NP Community,

I am in no way affiliated with TD, I Just wanted to post my experience after using their platform for a few weeks.

So I've been trying out ToughDomains for a few weeks, and so far I've found it has several features that are really useful.

One of my favorite features is being able to run my own "Ad Campaign" on my landers. You have to have a plan that allows this (I think it is not available in the "STORE" plan, but is available in the other plans). I think I would actually use this to point to my my own store. So when people pull up one of my landing pages, the banner ads will point them to the "Premier Market Place" for Premium Domain Names (etc....)

And depending on the Plan you have, you can have multiple Stores. So example is your main store can have your entire portfolio, and then your other stores can have all or a subset of your portfolio.

A few other features I liked are:
  • Ability to add TAGS to domain names
  • Filter on TAGS (so when people in Domain Wanted ask for certain types of names, if that is one of your TAGS, you will be able to quickly identify them)
  • Add Custom Categories, and add the same domain name to multiple Categories
  • ability to use an "A" record to point a domain name to ToughDomains
  • changing the DNS to ToughDomains seems pretty quick to work (I am in the USA, and it might just be because my names are at GoDaddy and my location in the USA, but it just seems when I change the NameServers for another Platform, it takes many hours before they are active, but when I change them for TD, they are usually active in less than hour, sometimes less than 30 minutes)
  • Bulk loading of names to a specific category -- say I create a category called "LLLL.com" -- I can copy/paste in bulk to load that category.
I already have a subscription to a different platform, but when that subscription expires in February 2018, I am thinking I might actually switch over to this platform. Pricing would be more expensive in order for me to run my own "Ad Campaign" across my entire portfolio, so I will have to weigh the costs vs. the features/benefits.

Regards,
DN

I discovered a feature in ToughDomains that I really like. I am not sure if it was already there and I missed it earlier, or if this was just added. Either way, I think it's GREAT!

For the landing pages, I am able to add my own RSS feed for the domain name. So if I know of a relevant RSS Feed that fits my domain name, I can use it for the landing page.

Examples of what I mean:
2 4 7 B i t c o i n s .com (found a Bitcoin related RSS feed)
V i n t a g e M a l l .com (found an Antiques / Collector RSS Feed)

Regards,
DN

I am looking at different services right now, including Tough Domains. One thing I wish they had is the ability to link directly to the GoDaddy Premium listing (they said you can use the Ad Space for this, but I'd like to use the Buy Now buttons for this). I just like GoDaddy to handle EVERYTHING even though they are taking a percentage. Is there another service that does this?

Some questions on Tough Domains:

1) Can I link more than 1 custom RSS feed to my landing page?
2) Can I create my own "blog" posts?

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions...adding a redirect to other markets like godaddy to the buy now is a great feature that we have on the roadmap. However Godaddy charges 20% commission and we only charge 9% in our marketplace. We handle the sale, transaction and transfer as well for half as much.

1. we are the only service I know of that offers instant domain development and yes you can use other services like http://www.rssmix.com/ to add multiple feeds into one feed then display that mixed rss on your domain
2. I havent heard blog post as a feature request yet. I think most people use wordpress for their blog as a subdomain like
news.mydomainstore.com which you can link to in our store.

Great updates. Thanks for that. I especially love the custom links option! Is this on a per domain, per store, or per account basis? Hopefully, it's per store or per domain...

the links for now are for all domains....an example is on the right side of this development page
http://globalstreet.com/
we have plans to allow you to use our tags to apply a link to a tag then tag domains. there are some things we need to iron out with links...such as new window or not, follow or no follow (seo considerations), etc...we always release the basic update then expand after it has been released in the wild. each release results in more requests and again we can never invent faster than our users request. we maybe adding video embed code to our dev pages as well. we have a few big announcements coming up then we move on to making a much stronger marketplace store for all users.

Parked a name to test it out... any other options for payment besides Escrow?

We offer the ability to connect stripe or paypal for credit card payment. This comes with the ability to set it up with a payment threshold. For example, all your names less than $500 to get paid via credit card and anything over to go to escrow services.

Alternatively, we can broker the deal for you and accept Bitcoin or direct wire payment. This comes at a 9% commission.

I would LOVE to move all of my domains to Tough Domains, but your lack of store segregation really inhibits my ability to sell the names. For example, I want five different stores, but each store will need to be completely branded to its niche. So I would need each store to have its own control over the domain store headline, sub-headline text, and contact info. I would need each store to have its own custom links, colors, etc. This is very important. Also, a series of tutorials would be beneficial whether on video or in text. It's not easy figuring out everything as you go via "trial and error." I love tough domain for the customizations it offers (i.e. RSS feeds, ads, links, etc.).

A couple of more things:

1) Browsers are flagging domains that aren't https. How do I get https on the domains I use through you?
2) Where can I add a short description of the domain? (a different one for each domain page).

Thanks!

1. we actually only secure the stores with ssl. we do not accept any sensitive financial info on these pages only offers. The pages that do collect payment info are secured. we are hosting thousands of names and applying ssl to each was causing some load issues. we may in the future allow users to apply their own ssl to all of their domains if needed. we do secure all .app names since this is necessary for to host the page.

2. this is in the works...we have been working on something big to offer everyone that we announce this week.

Added 2 new features this week.
1. add Google analytics to your store and landing pages (if you dont trust our reports now you can see how it compares to GA) this is updated in our reports section.
2. Per @BruceWayne and many other member requests we have added ability to add a unique description to all domains...yes different one for each domain or same text for all your names.

as for unique branding for all 5 stores we currently offer the ability to connect a unique domain and site logo but other options like custom colors and featured domains and custom categories are shared across all stores. because we offer so many custom options it would be a huge task to break this out by each store...however if your a gold member we could provide you with 2 additional store accounts so you would have full customization for 3 unique stores.

people have pinged our support and messaged me here about providing examples of the free pages. we have some live demo examples on the home page...but the home page is kinda bizzy

here is an example of our free page..

http://mbcardiology.com/

This form is cloud hosted with custom logo, custom background image, custom text, buy now, make offer, gdrp compliant, escrow api integration .(also paypal and stripe).. is mobile friendly, and is offer spam protected...

we offer all this with our free forever plan...
if you do not select buy now option and only make offer this service is completely free.
we also get the question why do you offer this for free? There are a few companies that offer free offer pages and lots of scripts out there that you can host....but as far as I know at the time of this post there is no free service that offers all of these features for free.

But why free?
We noticed that the more people that use our tools, the more exposure the global marketplace receives and that results in more offers to domains which increases the chance to sell domains for all our users...so for us this was a clear win win to offer free offer pages.

here is an example of what the offer page looks like in our global marketplace...
https://marketplace.toughdomains.com/global-offer/9fB6g

Would love to hear what we are missing...or how we can make this better...

This is very interesting -- I have used ToughDomains in the past, and I really liked what they had to offer. Now with the new features and the increase from 20 to 2,500 Domain Names in their FREE Account, I will have to try this again. One of my favorite features is the AD Slots that are available on the Lander Pages. This weekend I plan to re-visit the ToughDomains service...

We really tried to provide an option for all the different needs...

Some wanted to use a domain sales landing page and domain storefront (and have no interest with ads or the developed news pages)

Some liked the mix of developed pages with ads and domain sales pages.

some are very happy with their own solution and just wanted another option to list and sell their names (our global marketplace)

always amazed at how our members use our tools. one of our members created a custom image with some custom text and uploaded it as the background image of the landing page.

Tough Domains is a joke. As a long standing member of the domaining community from start to finish the business operations of this place is laughable. They require account activation to verify an account but the token seems to expire before it hits your inbox. Customer service seems to take a mocking approach when trying to resolve these issues. Once I was able to verify my account I tested it out but it really didn't provide anything else any of the other services have to offer. Hard pass...

ODST I am really sorry you are having a difficult time with sign up. We decided to require activation after we received hundreds of fake accounts with obviously fake emails. It was a business decision to make sure all of our users had a real working email they could access to sign up. From what we see with popular services like google and facebook this is rather standard. Its unfortunate you could not fully test the service. As you can see from the comments above there are many features that we offer that does exist anywhere else.
Instant domain development with custom content and your own ads across all your domains are just a few options that are unique to TD. We hope you can give us another chance. DM me and I will be happy to give you a personal walk through.
