In this the last edition of Detected Domains for this year, we have discovered some incredible purchases from some of the domain industry’s top investors as well as sales from companies such as DomainMarket.com, Media Options and Anything.com.

Thanks to DomainIQ’s portfolio monitoring tool, we are able to discover some interesting domain movement that will hopefully give you inspiration for your own domaining activities. Here’s what we have discovered since the last instalment of Detected Domains.

As reported recently, Internet Real Estate Ltd acquired the two-letter domain Do.com in a transaction brokered by James Booth (@BoothDomains) of BQDN.com. As of writing, the domain name redirects to MediaOptions.com.

Internet Real Estate Ltd also appears to have acquired Dill.com and Media Options acquired Rooster.com recently. According to DomainIQ’s WHOIS history, Dill.com was previously a part of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio.

Internet Real Estate Ltd may have also sold Slash.com, SRO.com and OCB.com after all three domain names moved under privacy protection at Uniregistry.

Elliot Silver (@EJS) acquired DrunkLife.com. It looks as though this domain was acquired via DropCatch.

Mike Mann (@Mike Mann) sold Bitop.com for $39,000. Mike purchased the domain in 2009 for $210. According to historical records, the domain had an asking price of $49,888.

Mike also sold JungleFish.com for $16,000.

James Booth purchased Crop.com before quickly selling it to Internet Real Estate Ltd. James also bought the three-letter domain KKI.com.

Not to be outdone, James’ brother Andy (@andyboothsi) acquired Jones.com from Jones International Ltd of Colorado.

Frank Schilling’s (@Frank.Schilling) company acquired BarSnacks.com. They look to have also sold the domain Frijoles.com.

Hostgator founder Brent Oxley added to his portfolio of one-word domain names by acquiring Toll.com from GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio. According to DNJournal, the price paid was $50,000.

Anything.com sold the domain eMarketing.com. As detailed in DNJournal, the domain sold for $265,000 in a deal brokered by Larry Fischer (@changejobs).

Telepathy Inc (@Telepathy) acquired Tajikistan.com from the Tucows portfolio via NameJet. Tajikistan is a country situated in central Asia with a population of just under nine million.

Wow -- congrats! It seems like you two have recovered nicely since the bidding on your own names at NameJet debacle.

Hmm I just sold a domain better than bitop same number of letters, last two letters the same, similar but better sound, real word in it for a lot less! But, mine didn't have bit in it, so maybe that is what took his over the top.

Congratulations James! You are the man (and Mann is the mann?)

JungleFish.com for $16,000
Crazyness I tell thee! :xf.grin:

I can imagine this being in the appraisal area and people (me included) saying "How would you use this, how do the two words go together. What is a jungle fish? How could someone use a website related to jungle fish."

It's of course a cracking brandable - like designer clothing, surfing gear, etc - but only for the right business so only in a world of playing the odds would this sell as it needs good visibility and time, both of which his model has. I do like Mann's business model, it's costly and quite ballsy as a result! Fair play imo

Maybe junglefishbali bought it?
