I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

Having followed @Kassey Lee on here for some time now and his really expert advice I know this-if you want to sell to China make it Short and Meaningful but most important SHORT. As to pinyin names the ones that really sell are the 1 or 2 pin names re caifu.com etc and they are very expensive. I know the term "luxury car" in pinyin sold for $2 million we own hualiche.com " gorgeous car" but who knows what it's really worth because it's a 3 pin term. It's only worth what a large car dealer might pay-nothing more. Sick to SHORT for China.

MingChe.com was the "luxury car" pinyin name that sold for over $2 million

I was told to research three 4N domains. Would you consider these good names to acquire?

Welcome to NP, Jen.

Not many companies in China use numbers but exceptions do exist, such as 1688.com owned and used by Alibaba. IMO, numerics .com domains are mostly traded among investors

This might be interesting 4 Pinyin channels:
China's central bank is considering its own digital currency, but it may not be built with blockchain technology, according a senior official. Of course it will, Will China's expat communities weigh in with China centric speculative trading ? I do not own Bitcoin or ETH but IMO China has the perfect controlled market model to lead CryptoSuo / BitcoinSuo / CyberSuo and develop BitcoinAnquan and CyberAnquan as the "Crypto Shijie" leader with China's leading long distance cryptography satellite system. It might be longtail but inevitable.

We now own both Shengrika.com and Shengriheka.com ( and .cn in both ) These are the two pinyin spellings of "Birthday card " in a billion $ business in China. Hallmark owns "Birthday card.com " and does business in China as does American Greeting - Alibaba - JD.com and others - we'll see if a large company buys these in the future. @Kassey Lee

So whilst not pinyin, I own Jade dot life.

Would this be an asset in china or would the Chinese pinyin translation be more valuable? Jade.com obviously has enormous value, hence the sold price of more than 1 million.

New extensions are still a big question mark in corporate China. Of course, when it comes to trading among speculators, that's a completely different game. Anything is possible. Chinese companies do use non-Pinyin names, such as Vivo.com and VIP.com.

Hi Kassey, I paid you for some appraisals before privately and love your work + blog.

Do you like 88287.COM or 81518.COM? Do they evoke anything for you?

Cheers

Nothing, to be honest.

Generally speaking, long numbers (say beyond 4N) are hard to remember -- except a few which rhyme with meaningful Chinese experssions -- so their use in corporate China is very limited. However, I think domain speculation (like what we had in 2015/2016) will come back in China and 5N .coms are mostly for speculation.

What do you think about:

JiaMiWaJue.com - CryptoMining?

FenSanJiaoHuan.com- Decentralized Exchange (DEX)?

JiaMiWaJue is 加密挖掘. A Baidu search actually did not show many entries containing this term on the 1st page; I also saw an alternative term: Jia Mi Huo Bi Wa Jue (加密货币挖掘).

I did not see many "Fen San Jiao Huan (分散交换)" on the 1st page of Baidu. Also, it's 4-pin, which is a bit long and companies tend to upgrade to 4L.

My suggestion is to do research before acquiring a domain.

It's still fairly early for these names to have a lot of matching search results and even in English the exact quotation ("") search results could be less than 500k, which is correct in the case for Decentralized Exchange (DEX) which is more of a long term crypto trend that won't gain traction for another few months...at this moment there are very few of them in existence compared to normal centralized exchanges for crypto. I went to the main chinese bitcoin forum to check and researched use of the term and also noted it in some recent important articles. In fact, the majority of search results and content on the term in both English and Chinese has only really started populating significantly during the past six months.

A similar thing happened back when I used to own VirtualClinics.com (Sold to another domainer), didn't have a lot of search results because it's such a new niche but once telehealth 2.0 started to become more mainstream, more companies and start ups started to use the term and I went from getting one Google Alert every couple weeks to multiple alerts almost daily. Gonna HODL.

One thing I am wondering about is whether or not baidu is censoring search results, because when I search "分散交换" on google the first result is an Announcement thread on the worlds largest crypto forum about a DEX.

Appreciate the insight!

I turned my formeramish.com into a new site for my fellow former Amish, by auto-posting those alerts to my site, and auto-sharing them to fb...
