GoDaddy going to start taking your domains after 30 days expiration

We will no longer be able to renew or even transfer out domains after 30 days past expiration date. This change takes effect Dec 4th so transfer out all your domains away from Godaddy now before you lose them!!!

My personal experience has been different, in fact, I have domains that disappeared from Netfirms/Dotster without notice at the 29th day. The domains were not listed in TDNAM, nor were they parked at Godaddy Auctions. But the WHOIS record was @NameFind and support declined to retrieve the domains claiming they were no longer mine. My only conclusion was to assume NameFind kept the names or they helped a buyer personally acquire the name outside of TDNAM.

Hmm. Can you give an example domain?

But that's only once it's expired isn't it? If you don't let it expire you have nothing to worry about.
Previously even with bids and won auctions, you can still renew your domain name and transfer out. But not sure that will be the case anymore except @Joe Styler CAN clarify what the heck is going on.

After day 30 you cannot renew or transfer your domain if there is a bid on it so you would need to renew or complete a transfer out in advance.

Does this mean 30 days after expiry date?

But the domain will still be in auction for 4-5 days before the registrant is no longer allowed to redeem it right?

That is correct. The auction starts on day 26 of expiration.

I mean it is better than before I guess.

But why not start it after the redemption period expires like NameJet or almost every other venue.
Once it hits the auction you know there will be a winner.

So really only a few days overlap. Hmmmm....what is the benefit of GD starting early and not waiting until the 30th day at least?

This will end the practice of intentionally letting select domains expire to assess their wholesale value and then transferring out.

Hello Joe, (after)manager of GDD, (or anyone with authority at GDD), (hope you had a great holiday)

1/Does this ALSO mean that when there's a bid on a domain between day 26 (1st auctionday) and 30 (5th auctionday) after expiry => We are still able to renew the domain or transfer it ?

2/If there are no bids and nobody buys the domain in the auction and nobody buys it in Flash sale : Are we then again in the possibility to renew or transfer away ? So in case nobody bidded or bought in Flash sale, and it is NOT YET in Registry Redemption Period for 30 days, can we then still renew it (without paying redemptionfee yet because there is still 2 days before it goes into registry redemption ?

3/And if nobody bidded or bought in Flash Sale and the domain is in Registry Redemption for 30 days, can we still buy the domain back, then paying a redemption fee (and how much is that fee then) ?

4/And very important =>> between day 1 and day 30 after expiry : How much must be payed to renew ? (other registrars call that the grace period in which no extra fee has to be payed, but GDD always asked a Godaddy- redemption fee after day 12 or day 18).
Is there in the new system any extra fee above normal renewal price, starting at day 12 or day 18 like it has been before, and no exra fee before 12 or 18 days after expiry ?
What I mean is what is renewalcost from day 1 to 30 after expiry : Are there any fees asked extra between day 12 or 18 and day 30 ?

Thanks in advance for quick reply.

All of the these new pro-active changes are killing auction re-sellers looking for any type of flip . If afternic/godaddy do not see a sharp decline in sales (85-90%) now, just wait another month.
