Unchained.com is awesome, the value of that domain has probably increased massively over the last couple years.

James Booth sold the three-letter domain FNE.com. According to WHOIS, the new owner is an Estonian investor.

A few months ago @tonecas wrote about FNE.com selling for $26k on Flippa...

Flippa:

FNE.com seems to have been sold by BIN for $26,000 after several unsuccessful auctions.
https://flippa.com/auctions/8975808/bids

Strangely, the WHOIS for the domain shows James Booth as the owner, but the seller on Flippa is Daniel Errecart from DomainHoldings. Possibly a brokered sale.

Braden Pollock acquired Motorized.com and Curlers.com to add to his portfolio of one-word .COM domain names.

Curlers.com sold for $2,501 via NameJet last month. http://www.namejet.com/Pages/Auctions/StandardDetails.aspx?auctionid=3992099

Motorized.com sold for $2,700 via NameJet earlier this month. http://www.namejet.com/Pages/Auctions/StandardDetails.aspx?auctionid=3993543

Cool sales @Nat Cohen !

Andrew Rosener may have sold the domain Harbor.com after it moved under privacy protection at Uniregistry.

The make offer page hasn't been removed from MO. https://www.mediaoptions.com/brokered-domains/harbor-com

Harbor.com had been discussed on Sherpa HERE

Andrew: I mean, the only objection I get is price. Ultimately, it always comes down to price. I mean, we were talking to Harbor Freight this morning, trying to sell them Harbor.com. And you know, they’re like…I rarely will tell people the price of a domain when we first solicit them. And so, we’ve got some software that tracks how many times a domain…you know, an email gets looked at, if it gets forwarded, where it goes. And so, it’s like, we sent them, “Hi, we’re bringing Harbor.com to market. Are you interested in buying this domain? Blah, blah, blah.”

And it was like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. The domain was sent all over the ——- world and 45 people looked at it in the course of two hours in three continents and 400 IP addresses. And it was like…

Michael: Yeah, because you’re tracking it every time you send out the email?

Andrew: Yeah, that’s what I like to see. That’s engagement, right? So good, bad or otherwise, those people got engaged. They were like, “Oh, this is interesting enough to forward to 400 people.” So it’s like okay, boom, they’re interested. Then, they’re like…okay, so ultimately, they come back, “What’s the price?” And I’m straightforward. Ali, in his interview about Freedom.com the other day, said…you know, very…identical strategy to what we do. It’s like, “Put the domain out there, if they’re interested, they’re going to come back and they’re going to say, “What’s the price?”

And then, I go back and very simply, “Here’s the price. If you’ve got any questions or want to make an offer, or…I’m here. If you want to hop on the phone about the…chat for a few minutes, let me know when’s a good time for you.” And sometimes, you never hear from them again. A lot of times, they’re just like, “We’re not even close.” And so, basically like, you know, Harbor…coming back to the example of Harbor Freight, it was like…they were like, “Sorry, we’re way off. We’d pay like $5000 or $10,000.”

And you’re like, “But what are you…?” So the second part of the question is, how do you…you know?

Michael: Right, how do you tackle it?

Andrew: …how do you tackle that?

Michael: How do you educate them that they’re not buying Harbor.com for $5000?

Andrew: So it comes back to what I said earlier, like, only one person online can own the Harbor brand and it’s the guy that’s on Harbor.com. And so, “You guys are a billion-dollar company, you should own your…you should own that brand. You should own Harbor, because you move…” you know, they’re far beyond just freight. They’re in many different things, now. And so, that allows them to not be so pigeon-holed, have a little bit more broader brand.

@James Iles - do you know anything else about the sale, or are you just reporting on the WHOIS change?

Looking at the historical WHOIS, the owner of Unchained.com was Lendvo LLC on September 15th, 2017. Lendvo.com is in the domain capital business. I don't know much about Lendvo.com. I noticed Lend.me had a Lendvo.com WHOIS in September of 2016.

Kudos to @Rick Schwartz !

What does one do after making a few million bucks? Go to Disney Land or go on a mission to combat questionable domain auctions? :]

When you borrow money against a domain with Lendvo the domain is put under contract and the whois changes to Lendvo whois. Someone must have borrowed money on the name and defaulted on the loan so Lendvo sold it off.

Thanks for your analysis here, very interesting :)

Regarding Media Options' potential sale of Harbor.com, I am simply reporting on the fact that the domain has gone into WHOIS privacy, along with the fact that the domain no longer resolves. I was told by Media Options that they couldn't comment either way.

Unchained might be good, but Django wasn't! Tarantino has been going steadily downhill for years now.
