I don't know why not just post it here.
I find it hard to track more than about 2 or 3 threads to begin with.
And there don't seem to be enough users in new threads for a proper discussion of them anyway.
You know I don't think that the XR keyword will be all that big. The word represents to wide of field than is needed in 'most instances' and leaves to much room for confusion. JMHO

But I looked at most of those webs and 90% of what I seen actually talk nothing but VR.
Leading me to believe that their choice of name was just as a cheap available alternative.
But I will encourage you guys to keep reg'n them so that so many are not freely available.
LOL
The sooner all the FitXR type names are taken and have a $2k price tag,
The sooner the FitVR type names will actually bring $5k

That is how it looks on my end of the telescope anyway.

I like the xr thread it will be nice to have it stand alone and be able to post stuff just on xr and then xr doesn’t get lost in vr ar mr and all r’s . People can come only if interested and view if they are only intetested in xr and all xr content.

Interesting that some of them and other companies that are not listed here are actually rebranding to XR so they wont have to rebrand when they are already well known and established.

Yes I would agree with @VRdommy that there is always a possibility that companies would choose to brand themselves if a cheaper alternative is available and we all know at the moment VR domains are very likely to be the most expensively priced in these reality variations.

But @elad has shown me a few examples recently of a few companies who have already branded with VR previously and are now making the switch to brand themselves with XR.

From a couple of the examples I have seen these companies mention their services in both the VR & AR space. So it is my guess that because they offer both VR & AR services\products they feel XR in their name is more suitable than having standalone VR.

I agree with a lot of what @KingslayerVR said earlier that having too many acronyms is making it too confusing for consumers. But who knows, maybe a term like XR that is designed to encompass VR, AR & MR is the simplest way to brand for companies who offer services or products across these realities.

When AR glasses are released into the wild and a profitable AR ecosystem is in place many so called "VR" companies will be jumping on the AR bandwagon. That's when there will be more XR brands coming into place. But I still believe that it will remain a non-consumer term, because on a case by case basis with products and services there will be no need for something to be named XR unless it is especially made for both AR and VR.

The average consumer will not know what XR is, but brands who do both AR and VR will consider if branding themselves WhateverVR accurately represents what kind of business they are.

Well out of 17 sites listed by Elad 13 of them mentioned more than just VR (AR or MR as well). I am not brilliant at Maths but not sure the 90% is accurate :xf.wink:

I think only 2 or 3 of them only mentioned just VR from what I had seen, a few others we're work in progress.

I agree with most of your points but it looks like to me that more than 10% are branding on the encompassing more than just VR aspect.

Can't find the link but I read an article on VR and AR today in FORBES and the writer was using the term 'Digital Reality', LOL.

Yeah there's all-sorts of crap about, that's why i tend to not do too much digging as you can read too much.

XR wasn’t really a thing this time last year, no doubt this time next year there will be something else that some Silicon Valley nerd will say is ‘the next big thing’ and the umbrella term for everything (Expanded Reality or something), will get re-tweeted a few times, sending domainers into a domain regging frenzy.

You can see why some experienced domainers who have been doing it for years and seen it all, stay away from tech domains, it's just so unpredictable and things change all the time.

Got to say I'm not seeing enough XR on social media/news articles to make it investable more than reg fee personally, as said yesterday though, people should do what they believe.

Well I do agree. Was offered a decent $xxx range amount for a very good XR+Keyword domain last month by a fellow domainer, only turned it down because it's one of the best keywords to own imo and if XR becomes a thing I would kick myself letting it go for an amount that wouldn't make that much of a difference to me.

Was surprised by the offer though considering what stage we are at with XR. He obviously believes the term could become something more than just hype.

But I do agree we are still at the stage where gambles should only be taken at reg fee prices and even then research is advisable.

Even though I’ve not invested in XR, if i was still buying virtual tech domains (which I’m not anymore) I would have probably taken a punt and paid xxx for XRP*rn myself, as that truly is a special one if XR does become a thing (not sure if that’s the one you are talking about).

All the best (y)

Just wondering if anyone regrets any of your buys you’ve made be it off other people or registrations?

What would you do differently if you could go back?

Me personally I’m dropping a lot of my hand regs soon, so wish i never registered as many of those i as did, so all that’s cost me around $2,000 but same time, all it takes is 1 sale for the ones I’m keeping to make my money back on those, but I’ve no problem putting that down to experience.

Domains I've bought from other people, there’s 1 or 2 of my earlier buys (i won’t say which ones) i wish i never bothered with, not because i don’t think i’ll sell them for profit eventually, it’s just they are ones that will take a bit more work to find buyers more so than selling themselves and with that, is it worth the time?

My most expensive buys though and domains i regard as my very best i don’t regret one bit. I’ve always tried to better myself each buy and my last buy (for example) i think has the potential to pay for every domain I’ve ever bought by itself a few times over, so wouldn’t have bought that if i never started investing in VR domains.

Views about your investments? Any regrets? What would you do different?

Thanks (y)

Well I did say I did not look at them all but of those I did, 80% was accurate since I randomly looked at 5 of them and 4 were not anything or purely VR..
Many do not sell anything. But admittedly I looked only on the cover pages for links or articles that at least mentioned AR or MR
Since you insist... I'll look at them all.
*xr-room.com Is venture capital service/think-tankhttp://xr-room.com/
xrgames.io Says only they make great mobile VR games without naming one. no ar/mr
hyperspacexr.com -no content - no data, no claims. Static lander - sells nothing -domainer lander ?
*innereyexr.com - is a collaborative incubator consultant service
biomexr.com is all about VR
inspacexr.com a VR only dev service tool
HumanXR.com mentions AR but only selling VR products.
*agencyxr.com consulting firm
ascentxr.com is a lander selling nothing but does mention all 3 - domainer lander ?
*womenxr.com a venture capital fund directed at women.
*conductxr.com mentions all but is a social developer toolset service
Xiality.com is just a static lander selling nothing -what makes them a company not just a domainer.
*FeelXRstudio.com mentions all and is a dev team.
ShowroomXR.com sells nothing to nobody. It's sorta a parked blog with no real content.
FitXR.com one product boxVR
XRconnects.com is a conference show title page.
orchardxr.com small b2b dev
So developers seem to have the majority stake in who is currently using XR by @Elad n list.
But many of those were just domainer landers.
When I truly test a site for content, I travel though it wanting to buy something.
Nobody in this list could sell me anything except for a email contact except for 1 site. biomexr and is VR.
I have made more than 100 page landers just like some of them over the years.
The names I marked with stars are real company's selling real vr/ar/mr services.

For AR VR MR dev's, branding with the term has always made sense if you work more than one media.
But as I have said many times, they are about the only ones that have use for names with it.
If you are going to construct a list like this to make a statement about the impact of XR in the market up to this point, you need to do better than this to convince me of anything more than just generating HYPE.
Perhaps just 3 of the fortune 1000 'branding with it' in some way. That may speak value to a domain'r.
And I'll give you one somewhat... Samsung, but they have not actually done it yet. Will they ?
They still hold a graphic TM for it. What will it mean if/when they use it ?

Xr is an umbrella term embracing all technology under the one term thus creating less public confussion with this r that r and every r under the alphabet thats why @Elad n created the page xr domains so this message doesn’t get lost in all the ar vr mr holo hologram etc that gets posted please call by and visit the xr page only if you want to if you do not believe in an umbrella term such as xr Then give it a miss but we welcome all talk . I don’t see how any person can question that xr as a term has not seen a large growth you can pick apart a website and find different bits here and there but remember it is early days for this tech ar vr mr etc i believe these companies are positioning early creating the xr term so they appeal to all consumers not just to niches

To some it is a all r umbrella term and some it is Extended Reality , including one of the mentioned sites.
4 of them were not company's at all and were domainer's landers.
I can easily question the XR term for growth and I am one person.
OK, maybe your right, previously it was totally non-existent. And presently stands just above that in domains.
My post stands as written. 'Make a good case' if your making one.
I'll buy it ! Make a poor case and I'll tell you why I won't buy it. With reasons.
It's O.K. to sell snake oil you did not make,
but know that someone may want to read/test the ingredients before a purchase.
Everyone here talks about how bad hype is to the industry and names, and this is how hype is perpetuated.
Most domainer's downfall.
You end-up phyc'ing each other up and others with you, right into the poorhouse,
And I think that was at the heart of what @cordoba posted a few days ago. Perhaps I'm wrong 'bout that.

What I'm saying to you is surely if you want to make a case for how many company's are branding with this term you can make a better case than you have.
Or your case is just weak. Try to make a better one !

I have had 5 emails from start ups relating to my xr names they are all doing what a lot of people do and plead povety with no money to pay for a domain name but i am the wrong person for this type of email as i don’t care if i sell now i preferr to hold onto for now . But i am getting more action on xr than ar

Not making a case but raising awareness.. Im not into domainers buying my names for xx xxx prices so it don't really mind about that.

Whilst I totally get your point you have to admit that in a year XR has gathered some momentum that many would not have believed was possible.

Yes this could just be hype that eventually leads to nothing that impressive.

But sometimes the early bird catches the worm.

Was worth some reg fee gambles as far as I am concerned. Even a year ago lots of decent keywords were gone and as time passes there might be very limited opportunities at reg fee.

Not saying this is a reason for people to register XR names. But sometimes by the time the market as shown its full hand, its almost too late. JMO though

Well I think all the regulars here know that I over-invested in holo names, and it's painful letting so many names drop just when holo is finally starting to become a thing (even if just regards augmented and mixed reality rather than 'real' holographics).

I've made a big profit from my names all in all but if I had been a bit more conservative with the hand registering and put all the money I spent on useless names and renewals into bids for premium names, or even just a safe investment stock fund, then I'd probably have enough in the bank now to consider early retirement.
