I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

.us is not so open either. Just because you're Canadian doesn't qualify you right away.

I never looked into it in detail (as I didn't want to register a .US), but I understood they have a 3 simple nexus categories for registering .US names, one of them being that you have a legitimate business interest in the US, in the sense of wanting to business there. For someone to buy a .CA from outside of Canada, they would have to register a trademark (which usually takes well over a year) or incorporate in Canada.

I had my last trademark done in just over 3 months, but that was back in 2009. It may be slower now, not sure.

For .us can you open an Amazon store selling into the US and use the.us website or blog to promote your products? On the surface that should fulfill the legitimate business interest.

I never really saw much value in .us TBH. Don't think the Americans do either.

.us don't really show up in search results unlike .ca. For a long time there were more .ca registered than .us, they are garbage unless you do your own marketing.

A few good .ca’s expired today.

Hiv
Aids
Fbi

I think these will be 4 figures each.

I wonder if just one owner owned both aids and hiv?

Nice to see CIRA got the TBR page working regularly again

So one of CIRA's twitter accounts is advertising TBR as a way of bringing life to old domains.

Is this a good thing (more .CA awareness) or a bad thing (competition)?

https://twitter.com/dotCAvoice/status/927914554742493184

You mean relatively right? That tweet got 2 likes and 1 retweet. I'm assuming you were one of the likes.
Seriously CIRA is a joke guys. Look at my avatar - I've done more to raise awareness of dot ca in the year since I bought that car than CIRA's done in it's existence.

Problem is also that the average person can’t register TBR dropping names. They have to go through a registrar and pay a premium as well as trying to figure out some of the convoluted systems the registrars have in place to utilize the TBR.
I don’t think most can be bothered.
They need to simplify the process if they hope to bring more people to the table I would think.

He is not talking about the tbr list.
There are still better names to hand reg, mostly, than on that list.
Then you have to compete to catch, maybe private auction. Aids.ca hiv ya, so there are a few
I dont even waste my time looking at that list.
He is referring to promoting .ca as an extension, getting the word out. Convince people the .ca is good, proud, can benefit them and is not a spammy, stinky ext like .top
Even free bumper stickers for cira members and registrants would be an effort.
Many people will still take a less desireable .com. We have been sitting at around 2.6 million for quite a while. Never see any advertising or promoting from cira.
@poing I signed up became a cira member, lets work on getting you in next year.

Nice advertising job @dtagr (y)

Guess the cira is having some big gig in banff, I never heard about that.

Ha, didn't even look at the retweets/likes. Yikes, that may be a sign that awareness sucks. But no, I wasn't one of the 'likes'

Then we know that at least 3 people saw that tweet - a 50% increase since yesterday. Good job CIRA!

Kind of misinterpretation on my part as well
Still 1 retweet and 2 hearts https://twitter.com/dotCAvoice/status/927914554742493184
I guess none of us finger its worth retweeting.lol
They have a facebook page too https://www.facebook.com/cira.ca/

Also I emailed them last week as I was getting notifications from them in french during transfer.
Never heard back.

Did sell hempmart in our extension last week. Guy wants to build a brand, has some other hemp names
I like his vision. Made money and learned quite a bit. Incoming inquiry via efty,

2 seperate transfer from whc.ca to godaddy took 20 minutes each, get code from whc control panel, go to daddy. Transfer
Daddy will send you couple codes in email. Enter them and done.
I never received any confirm transfer out email. Same as transfers in to whc from rebel
Once someone gets your .ca auth code, its gone and you wont know till transfer is over.

Anyone get an email from someone at rebel last couple days?

I got something a few days ago for $2 .ca registrations from Rebel
